Aldershot Senior Cup - 1st Round

Just got in - 2 hours of almost unrelenting dreck, the highlight being (apart from actually winning) the 93rd minute 25 yard screamer Tom Martin slammed in to make it 2-2. We went 1-0 up with a typical Matt Grave goal, but conceded a penalty after 76 minutes and George Baldock scored from the spot. Ryan Curtis put Lammas ahead on 89 minutes but at last we found a sense of urgency and got a barely deserved equaliser. We were canine droppings for too much of the game, and never took advantage of the fact that the Lammas keeper (whose name I have just realised I have only written down as Ademula) had a crocked ankle or that, later on former Sarnie Steve Wilmore was lame but had to stay on after all 3 subs had come on. (As for the keeper's name, my apologies to the young man, who had a more than decent game. The usual answer to this problem would be to look in the programme but Lammas apparently failed to send a team listing.)

The penalties:

1-0 John Pomroy

1-0 Dean Greenwood - excellent save by Justin Gray

2-0 Charlie Muldowney

2-1 Ben Jacobs

3-1 Martin Randall

3-2 Ryan Curtis

3-2 Matt Grave hit the top of the bar

3-2 Jamie Redrup

4-2 Nathan Blanks

and we all escaped from the cold, Egham grateful to be in the next round (and thinking that at leat we got our game on The pitch was superb.)

Just got in aswell totally shattered, we held our own tonight and maybe could of won it, might be biased but where did the ref get 5 mins injury time from? No injuries? The next level would suit the way we play but when we get back to div 1 we dont play with the same tempo or urgency! Thought our performance dont reflect on our terrible start to the season, we looked confident and wanted to play, not the same team that played sat! Anyway gonna stop feeling sorry for myself! Thought the keeper made some great penalty saves! ( Including mine!!!!) the keepers name is ade, hes done his ligaments so i had to take all his kicks 2nite but to be fair he still made some cracking saves! Anyway good hospitality and good luck to the sarnies in the next round!

ANIMAL, STEVE . I THOUGHT EGHAM WERE WELL BELOW PAR FROM HAVING WATCHED THEM THIS SEASON.

IT WAS MY IMPRESSION THAT EGHAM FELT ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS JUST TURN UP AND WIN HENCE THEIR POOR PERFORMANCE, THAT'S TAKING NOTHING AWAY FROM LAMMAS WHO I THINK ARE QUITE A GOOD TEAM, BETTER THAN THEIR POSITION SUGGESTS.

IN MY OPINION, IT WASN'T THE BEST OF GAMES BUT FELT LAMMAS WERE UNLUCKY AND DESERVED TO WIN WHICH I HAVE TO ADMIT I THOUGHT THEY HAD WITH THEIR LATE GOAL, SO YES, WHERE DID THE REF GET ALL THAT INJURY TIME FROM ? ........PERHAPS STEVE GAVE HIM A TENNER...LOL !

JUST A FAN (GROUND-HOPPER) ANIMAL I THINK THAT'S WHAT WE ARE CALLED THESE DAYS ! I'VE ONLY BEEN WATCHING CCL GAMES (ALL PREMIER, SORRY !) STARTING FROM LAST SEASON. i HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE RYMAN CLUBS FOR MANY-A-YEAR BEFORE THAT, BUT I GOT BORED WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE CLUBS ''LUMPING'' THE BALL AS OPPOSED TO PLAYING FOOTBALL, SO GAVE THE CCL A TRY AFTER TALKING TO A FRIEND WHO ALSO WATCHES AND MUST ADMIT, BAR THE OBVIOUS POOR GAMES (ALL LEAGUES HAVE THEM), I'M QUITE IMPRESSED WITH THE STANDARD, WITH QUITE A FEW TEAMS TRYING TO ACTUALLY PLAY FOOTBALL AS OPPOSED TO ''HOOFING'' IT !

ALTHO' I THINK THAT SOME OF THE TOP CCL PREM TEAMS CAN HOLD THEIR OWN IN THE RYM,AN, THE ONE THING I HAVE NOTICED BETWEEN THE RYMAN AND CCL IS THAT THE RYMAN PLAYERS ''APPEAR'' TO BE FITTER AND MORE DISCIPLINED BUT TECHNICALLY THERE'S NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE. BUT WHAT I WILL SAY, THE CCL IS MORE ENJOYABLE TO WATCH ...........SO FAR ANYWAY !

IT WAS A CHOICE THIS EVENING TO GO TO THE ''SPECTRUM'' TO WATCH GUILDFORD AND ASH IN THE FREEZING COLD, AND IT WILL BE THERE OR WATCH THE MANCHESTER CLASH...............NOW LET ME THINK MMMMMMMNNNNNN....................................

Dean (or Jamie, but judging by the comment on Justin's save, I would guess Dean), thanks for the kind comments. I have changed my opinion of Staines Lammas. I thought you would be a bunch of cloggers but I was wrong. You all worked bloody hard, and had we lost it would have been no surprise given how poorly we played. Good luck to you for the rest of the season.
