Cambridge Vs Windsor latest

Another good display against another side who in all honesty looked hugely overrated.

A bit like Saturday we started the game a bit slowly but grew as the 1st half went on and probably deserved to be ahead at half time. We certainly had the better efforts on goal and their keeper was certainly busier than Delroy. In fact I can’t remember Cambridge having a decent effort on goal in the 1st half despite having lots of possession.

We could have taken the lead just after half time when Bernard was put through but their keeper made a good save. To be fair to Cambridge they did look a bit more dangerous after the break but still didn't really create much, the closest they came to scoring was when Owens (I think?) nearly shined the ball into his own net, fortunately the ball looped just over the bar.

No Chennells last night as he was in action earlier in the day. The new striker (Paul Robinson?) looked decent, he held the ball up well and brought others into play, he might not have looked quite match fit but he made up for that with raw aggression! He came agonisingly close to scoring late on but his header bounced just the wrong side of the post.

It was good to see Fiston back in action. He played more as a conventional central midfielder last night but looked strong despite his recent health worries.

Defensively we looked solid again. We played the offside trap to perfection (which didn't please their fans) and the back four won everything in the air and on the ground.

At the final whistle some of our players seemed to enjoy celebrating the result. They seemed to have been particularly riled by a certain section of the Cambridge support, one can only speculate what had riled our players so much, however as the Windsor players came over to thank the supporters behind the goal who had made the trip I'm afraid to report we did hear racist abuse being shouted towards at least one of our players by a Cambridge fan who was leaving the ground. Worryingly this abuse was coming from a full grown adult!

Anyway another well earned point against a promotion chasing side. Well done again to all the players and coaching staff.

Didn't hear any racist stuff but there was a fair amount of abuse thrown at the players and staff during and after the match.

Speaking to ref after the match, who actually seemed a nice guy and willing to talk, he said that he would be reporting the after match issues to the FA along with the assessor.

As for the game I thought it was a very good performance against one of the favourites for promotion. Yes there were limited chances but who expected anything else. Paul looks a good addition if only short term but shows that we are still moving in the right direction despite the off the field issues.

Anyway, results like that against one of the top teams in the division count for nothing if we don;t build on them so hopefully we can add to the points tally with more against Banbury on Saturday.

Cambridge message board said about Delroy doing something to wind the fans up, what happened? They were however realistic and suggested a draw a fair result, although suggested a penalty shoud have been given.

I also saw on the Chippenham chatboard that they reckon we are the best team they have played.

I can genuinely see nothing to stop us sitting comfortably in the top third of this division (as long as we don't have points deducted) and then it would be mid to lower mid table. I have been surprised by how good we are and how average this division has been in general.

A good result Saturday and we are looking to Hemel game with some relish rather than fear we may get thumped. You could say early days but at the third way through the season mark not a Windsor fan who wouldn't have taken this at the beginning of the season.

Was only discussing this a couple of weeks ago with a chap at work whose son is at Eastleigh. Basically he reckons apart from half a dozen clubs each season, the rest are no better than the top half of the divison below. There is always going to be 4 clubs that are destined for the drop through lack/withdraw of money and/or points deductions. If you are a half decent club you are going to be able to hold your own in there. This has been proven i think by Didcot & Cirencester both making a fist of it after going up from fiith place.

You have done remarkably well so far, especially considering your finacial problems. Hope to see you next year although i fear it may have to wait until the season after (unless we finish fifth of course !!)

My latest prediction is paultons to win it. Saw Sholing in the FA cup and they were not that good. I was away, but apparently their keeper was MOM last week. I predict they will soon drop away but finish 3rd. Us ? with a new keeper in this week and the new ground imminent, I think second.

I would say the big difference is they are more organised and tactically aware. The reason we got tonked by Ciren was because they were organised and consistent. They would struggle to score past us now (I don't mean any disrespect to Ciren but we were woeful and they took their chances, fair play but we are so so much better now, honestly!!)

I am guessing Truro are going to be the runaway winners of our division with the way they dispatched Chippeneham last night, but if we don't get a points deduction and we keep the squad and they continue to perform no reason for us not to be fighting for a play off place, and then it is anybody's guess, as both Windsor and Totton have found out.

Good luck for the season SW, I fear you may need it knowing how difficult it is to get out of that division.

as for Sholing, you can't knock them, 13 wins 2 draws and no defeats, they must fancy their chances at the moment surely, and who could doubt them?

That’s an excellent video. Well done to whoever produced it.

However I will say the editor rather cunningly cut to the footage of the penalty incident about 1 second after Fiston had been scythed down on the edge of the Cambridge Box.

Having not given us a free kick it was inevitable the ref wasn't going to give a penalty a few seconds later even though it did look a clear foul.

I have to say apart from that few seconds or so the ref had a pretty good game.

Fantastic video and good quality. Iwould also like to add that it gives a reasonable view of the game rather than just Cambridge attacking. From what I heard the game was relatively even and the video I feel reflects that. I would say the offside was close but looks about right and yes it cclearly looked like a penalty to me.

Shame we haven't got any budding video makers at Windsor who would like to tape the match and edit it for all of our games.

What was Delroy booked for, the tackle didn't look particularly nasty but was incredibly stupid and for that the striker probably deserved to be booked.

The saddest thing is it appears our last two away games against top teams have ended with racist comments being aimed at our players, i do hope these are isolated cases and not going to become the norm trying to get back into football. Most fans I have met over the years at non league level (especially outside the conference) have been friendly and objective (at least after the game!!) and I would like to believe that is what most fans still are.

Oi!! We do our best...!

Anyway, yes, excellent to see a quality video of our quality team.

Rother, the oldest trick in the book, only quote part of the comment to make me look bad and you look good. I think your videos are superb and are very much welcomed by everyone, but if someone could video the WHOLE match and then supply edited highlights, how cool would that be.

I still maintain my idea of having all the video highlights put together and shown at the year end bash on a big screen when we had won the league would have been a great showcase of our talent.

Indeed, that's why we need a budding film maker. They would have content, opportunity and carte blanche to edit. What an exciting opportunity for some of those media students to come and show what hey are made of, maybe a link with Windsor college is needed.......

I am afraid you will have to do better than that to upset me ;)

Well here's hoping for a bog crowd tomorrow and that Dazza is on form with the Bingo!!

That's a BIG crowd of course (fat finger syndrome)
