Good luck to all CCL teams, it would be fantastic for the league if some of our clubs made it into the later National Rounds and attract some big attendances. I've been looking forward to the Chertsey game for sometime, especially after last season's good run. Also interesting to see two CCL clubs at home to Isle of Wight oppostion - I bet neither would relish a replay!

Good luck to all - Brading Town will be a tough test for us. Let's hope there are a few CCL names in the draw for the next round!

Just a small correction to that postcode however, the Spectrum is actually at GU1 1UP for anyone who may be interested. GU1 1DN is the address of Guildford City Social Club.

Good Luck to all CCL teams this weekend. Hopefuly we will have a clean sweep and get all temas through. Difficult tie for my boys away down at Reading Town but full of confidence and no pressure on us so maybe an upset is possible.

Krooner did you got to Cambos match? sounds like a lively affair?? Heard a few stories about this one!! From Herne Bays match report is sounds like something happened at half time?

Darren Marsden showed Herne Bay what they had missed for the first three months of the season. Producing a scintillating performance; he made the Camberley defenders look very ordinary as he ghosted past them time after time, with his superlative ball control.

Camberley were a very big side with only a couple of players under 6 foot tall. Their plan was very obvious straight from the start; put our ‘4’ 8” keeper (their comment) under pressure by pumping balls into the box.

Dan Eason, to his credit, only had one real save to make and this he did with some aplomb turning Michael Smith’s 30 yard pile-driver of a shot over the bar. This was probably the turning point of the game in the 23rd minute.

The sides were level and both striving to get the early advantage. Two minutes later, Michael Turner, who was being severely manhandled through out the game, cut in from the left, firing a low shot which keeper, Chris Foster, saved at full stretch.

This was followed by some superb, one touch play between Jimmy Corbett and Marsden. As Marsden went through he was tripped and the penalty awarded. Marsden hit his shot firmly to Foster’s left to put Bay in the lead.

Bay were now dominating the play with Camberley’s only response being the long punt up-field for their best player, Smith, to chase and hold until back up arrived. They were always dangerous from free kicks with good deliveries into the area, but on the day Eason, despite his height, or lack of, did what he had to do to frustrate the attacks.

Michael Jenner saw his free kick from fully 35 yards whistle past the upright with the keeper nowhere. The visitors only chance to level before the interval was thwarted by Tom Bryant ‘s headed goal-line clearance in the closing minutes of the half.

An altercation occurred as the players left the field of play at the end of the half. Simon didn’t have to give a pep talk during the interval, the antics of the visitors bench and their players gave the Bay players all the incentive they needed.

The second half saw some very physical tackles, with at least five players receiving yellow cards. The only amazing thing was how their No. 4, Jamie Hoppitt, didn’t get booked, despite being spoken to by the referee on no less than five occasions after fouls committed.

Bay looked comfortable but the tie was more-or-less settled in the 75th minute. Marsden was upended midway inside the visitors half. Toby Ashmore stepped up and fired a low drive to the Foster’s right. The ball bounced just in front of his dive, jumped over him and nestled in the bottom corner.

The visitors became increasingly more frustrated and the tackles more cynical but Bay were well in control. Marsden wound up a fine performance in the 85th minute with a powerful run from the right, out pacing his marker, Michael Blount; drawing the keeper to him before sending the ball across the face of the goal where Byron Walker slid in to force the ball over the line to secure the victory.

An outstanding performance from the whole team today. The defence stood firm against a very strong aerial assault. The midfield moved the ball well to provide quick counter attacks and the front runners caused all sorts of problems to the Camberley defence. Many contenders for man of the match but in the end it was given to Marsden for his all round attacking display.

Probably a little bit of home journalism in there DT. The Camberley chairman and old moaners wouldn't stand for long punts up field. Total football at Krooner Park.

Is Hoppitt the centre back? Looked a useful player the times I have seen him.

Have to say Epsom got the rough end if the draw hey.
