I think he's doing better than ok Rob. Too late now but what on earth were we thinking of letting this bloke go? A crazy decision by whoever was responsible.

I believe he was under contract, though others might be able to put me right on that one? That said, if a player wants to leave, he's not going to break his back for the club he's at and you may as well let him go and get someone in who will. Especially if he is still under contract, and we can get something for him? Talking of which, I see Wayne Andrews scored for someone in the Nationwide League again this week.

Hi herts blue.

If only we had an 'Official' available to come on here and help us out, hb. Even someone in regular contact with the powers that be. Someone able to slip in the odd question. Someone able to 'read between the lines', so to speak. If only.

I understand that JC was on a two year contract from the start of last season. I heard that he was released from that contract 'by mutual consent' at the end of last season which was a necessary requirment to allow him to go to play in the U.S.A. for the Summer. I believe that there was a handshake to the effect that he would return to us for this season.

Clearly, he hasn't. I would be the last to speculate on whether he wanted to leave or whether we didn't want/couldn't afford the lad.

He played in every game last season bar one when he was suspended and did a very good job for us. Good luck to him from me.

Wayne scored for Colchester. Was suspended for the first three games of the season and has scored 2 in 2 since I think.

Challinor was a good player for us without ever consistently reaching the excellent displays he is obviously now putting in for Aldershot. Perhaps the step up has suited his game, good luck to the fella.

As for the circumstances surrounding his departure, who knows? Perhaps a bit of everything.

He was very good and with the possible exception of Crawshaw was easily our most consistent player last season, doing it week in, week out. Maybe if he had had a decent midfield around him like he now has at Aldershot, more people would have sat up and took notice. Terry Brown obviously saw through it.

From what I heard, he wanted to rejoin but the budget wouldn't stretch to it. May or may not be true but I can think of atleast two or even three of the older players in the present team, who I would have moved out first to keep within the budget, in order to accommodate him.

I don't disagree that he was one of our more consistent performers last season. My point was that he is playing better for Aldershot than he was for us. You missed the end of my quote off to back this up - perhaps the step up (i.e better players around him) has suited his game.

Challinor in combination with Graham, Glynn and a fully fit Smith would have made for an excellent quartet. If you and I can see that, I'd reckon the management could too, potentially suggesting his departure may not have been totally one sided. Possibly. The truth is out there...!!
