Repeated Mistakes

These recent League defeats indicate to me that we are short of quality players who can "turn a game", but also that our Management Team have no Plan B once the team go a goal or two down.

At Thurrock and the last 3 home games the games have cried out for a change of tactics and therefore a change of player / selection, but it does not happen.

Far too often we wait until the final 10 or 15 mins before the shape of the team changes, when it could have happened at half time !

Yesterday was the same and many supporters seemed bemused by Adam going off - he is having a problem scoring but he does not stop running and closing defenders down.

Why give our new goal-scoring centre forward 10 mins on Tuesday and 15 mins yesterday when we needed goals ?

Tactical awareness needs to be lifted by Players and Management if we are to get past the likes of Leyton and Pots Bar over the next 2 games.

Some Players need to start "working" for the side and their place, rather than be certain selections.

Just my opinion.:)

Latent are up next , This match is a formality as they are just ESL fodder in all but name these days and shouldn't even be in this league . I would expect nothing less than a 3-0 win . If Town dont win then we must start asking serious questions as to why ?

Bit strong OOT.

Leyton have a better record than us over the last three league games. One point as opposed to our 0!

Football all about opinions , we were the better side yesterday and only the result was the same as the Gt Wakering and Potters Bar defeats in my opinion , not the performance. We had the lion's share of the possession and were the side pressing up until their goal half way through the second half and missed two or three good opportunities over the course of the game which would have changed the result. There was no real need for a change at that point and even after we had chances to get back on level terms. What has happened is that we are conceding now through individual errors , this is hard to account for. Steve will be working hard to sort this out im sure and whilst the three defeats on the bounce isnt good , we need to dig deep and get through this. A lot of these players were with us last season so dont become bad players overnight. We must however start converting possession into points.

Old Towner , as you say opinions are what they are and everyone has one and is entitled to one , without the individual errors over the last two games we probably would be 6 or at least 4 points better off. Steve and Jason are however as frustrated as are most of us, that we cant keep blaming the mistakes and that the team need to start pressing home and showing more quality , end product with all the possession we have.

PS - if the REF had got the major decision correct yesterday the result may well have been OH SO DIFFERENT. We arent quite getting the rub of the green at the moment.

Fellabob think everyone knows you don't always get out of football what you deserve. The best team doesn't always win and you can have 90% of the possession and still get beat. No club has a divine right to win, but after getting beat last season in the play-off final, think most Towners expected us to go one better in this campaign. There is still a long way to go but, after a few unexpected defeats in recent matches, everyone hopes that things can be put right, sooner than later, before we are left playing ' catch-up' rather than leading the pack for promotion. Let's all hope the players cut out the errors and come back with a bang on Tuesday evening. Good luck guys !

In Steve's program notes yesterday , it appears that Ben Hammond is still injured , and as both Jey and Liam were at the game yesterday ,others are it would appear being preferred at present . ( jey is competing with Bardle and Byfield ) ( liam with , Gunz , Hammatt and now Osei ). I agree Big Guy they are decent players and all of us have certain players we prefer to others etc... but Steve can only ever pick 16.

At least Town have had the upper hand in recent times , I just cannot believe Town will lose this match

If Town lose then its back to the drawing board :wall:

Fellabob-agree with your comments

OT-You keep going on about Plan B and changing the game from the bench. One thing you have to remember is that the bench will only have similar quality players available or less (on paper, otherwise they would'nt be subs) and with the budget on players limited your only going to get certain amount of strength at your disposal. Secondly, Of course you'd only go chasing a one goal deficit with risks in the last 10-15 mins as you would be risking a game over scenario early in the second half if you opened up earlier.

In all, we are not far away from a win and for what it's worth I'd still stick with Adam up front for the Leyton game. We still have 30 games to go and still well in touch with 5th spot which is the minimal target. we need to shake off these cup exploits we have been on, get everyone fit and available, win v's Leyton and get the show back on road. You only had to witness Potters Bars and W+F childish dancing and prancing having beaten us to realise that they know we are a strong team that they have gained 3pts against. What our boys need to do is secure 3pts v's Leyton are re-discover the self belief again, which is still their in my eyes.

The supporters getting behind the players rather than on their backs might help.
