Chippenham -v- W&E

Outstanding performance today. Against one of the favourites for title, who have only lost once in the league all season, every single player played their part. Chenns was superb up front and Pearce, Jake and Bernard really took the game to the Chippenham back line who looked extremely unstable for a side with their record this year, but I could honestly name every player, it really was a complete team effort. With everything going on off the pitch huge credit must go to Dave, Byron, Haley and all of the players, proud to be a Windsor fan after today. Let's get through this week and look to the future. Chenns apparently has a trial game for Crawley against Leyton Orient on Tuesday, personally would like to wish him and well, as I've said numerous times before he deserves a shot at that level, and if it doesn't work out he knows where his home is at Stag Meadow. My last point on today, driving home I was listening to talk sport and caller after caller was moaning at referees, so I would like to say well done to the referee, I thought he was excellent and one of the best i've seen in a number of years.

Hear Hear Geggsy.

Couldn't have summed up that performance better myself. We could have won it - and deservedly so. They were big, strong and fast. So were we. Superb team effort and the times we had their defence in tatters was great to see. They deserve to have a great evening out in Bristol tonight!

Also want to wish Michael well for Tuesday's trial at Brisbane Road. Another brace of goals today should convince Crawley!

This coming week provides a massive hurdle for the club to overcome, but a performance like that on the pitch raises the spirits, and we can only hope that Chris, Peter and Kevin use their combined knowledge, experience and passion for the Club to produce the necessary result off it.

I know Crawley have money at the moment but are they really so silly to not wait a few weeks to see if they can get him on a free?

Good luck to Chenns however. He could do a job for Sheffield United at the moment!

Just wanted to echo what the others have said about the game. It was a really enjoyable game to watch. We probably deserved all 3 points in the end.

Fair play to the players it would be easy for them to put in a sub par performance and blame the off field situation but to a man they were excellent.

It was strange to see Dave Pearce start the game in the centre of the pitch. He seemed to be playing in the Fiston role, but what a great job he did. He was a threat all afternoon.

Bizarrely despite giving them what looked like a soft penalty the ref was really good and seemed to know what he was doing. Rather than constantly telling the players to "go away" he actually seemed to explain his decisions to the players which seemed to earn him some respect. (other refs take note).

We did well to be 1-0 up at half time as Chippenham had started the game really strongly. We had our moments too but were delighted to go into the break a goal up. The goal was vintage Chennells, he out paced and out muscled the centre back and then made the keeper look pretty silly.

Second half we upped the tempo and played really well, possibly the best 45 minutes of football I've seen this season by both teams. Jake started to get into the game and got the better of their left back, also Bernard started getting some joy on the left flank against their substitute right back. At times we seemed to be all over them.

Our second goal summed up our season so far, instead of sulking after conceding the equaliser the boys had the determination to go up the other end and scored another straight away. It came from some great play by Bernard who beat his man and drove the ball across the 6 yard box, Chennells just used the pace on the ball to rifle it into the roof of the net.

It was a shame we couldn't hold on for the win as we probably deserved it, however teams with far bigger resources than us will get tonked by Chippenham this season thats for sure.

Totally agree with what has been said, we showed good character, especially as we were without a key defender and a key midfielder. Shows we have strength in depth and players can adapt to the way they are asked to play.

I would say the first half was Chippenham's and teh second half ours, but both dominant sides lost he half they dominated. We had some chances to seal the game in teh second half but we didn't give up and played very well to the end.

Everyone said at 3pm a point would be good, but 4.45 (or nearer 4.55) we were all a little disappointed by a point, says what a terrific job Mudge and the boys have done.

Some of their fans at half time were bashing ref saying he had got nothing right, wonder if that was frustration at their team not scoring or the fact he took control of the game and wasn't influenced by a large and occassionally loud crowd. On that point a good crowd to see a good game between 2 teams that would give anyone at that level a good game.

One final point, £2 for a pint in a pub within walking distance of the ground, Windsor in the Premier, had we really gone back to the 80's?
