Some of you and some of you might not be aware :

Slough Town along with many of the other charter status clubs are involved with the LFP (local football partnership) which entails meetings every month

with members of Slough Council / Berks and Bucks FA / charter clubs /slough parks enterprise..

These meetings are trying within Slough to promote Football at all levels and to create a working partnership within the Town..

Chris Sliski - represents the Club

Mike Lightfoot - represents the Supporters trust

All types of football included : Girls / schools / Adults / all age groups...over the past few months more coaching sessions and active

encouragement has been made to see how and what we can all do to help the situation.

As members will be aware the Supporters Trust has been active in its financial support to some slough school team s of Slough ..with kit sponsorship

and also supporting some finals with medals for the teams...

One of the major problems that was highlighted ,that there is a big gap from 18 year olds to 21 year olds (mens teams)...This was a big problem when last years youth team was broke up as if the boys wanted to go on with playing football, only sat and sun mens teams are available !

So the Berks and Bucks FA along with Mars , asked for teams within the charter status clubs of Slough to see if they could start an under 21 years league....after about a few months ..6 teams came forward inc Slough Town FC ...with an entry ..which was made up of some of last years youth team and along with some of the loyal fringe players that are currently playing for the under 18's...

The games are played at Wexham School .on Wednesday Evenings..so over the next 5 weeks ...the teams are scheduled to play a round robin competition as an experiment..we are hopeful that this will expand ...

Last night Slough Town Played Langley Hornets and won 5 - 1

Each game consists of 30 mins each way with 5 mins half time .(played on full size astro turf pitch under floolights) using as many roll on roll off substitues as you like...

2 game are played each Wednesday ...

next wednesday 10th November Slough V Jubille eagles ko 8-30pm

no game on 17th November

3rd Game on 24th Nov Slough V Taplow Utd ko 7pm

4th game on 1st December Slough V CPR Utd ko 8-30pm

Over the next few Weeks the FA will be coming along to view the games and will be filming a Video of this venture !

The first of its kind in the UK and Slough Town FC is a part of this ....

cheers chris sliski

I stand corrected if thats so...but this is what the FA told us... Is it fully endorsed by the FA ?

or are non affiliated clubs playing in the league ?

All those in this league are FA charter clubs ?

anyhow still a good move ....for SLOUGH...

tks chris S

Well done all those who were involved in getting this off the ground !

This can only be a benefit to our club.We may also find an untapped source for potential players for Slough FC senior side, which can only be a good thing.

Also very heartening to see Slough Council and Mars involved. This is a very large step in the right direction [for a change-sarcasm!] to forge links to the town, the club is supposed to represent.

May try to get along to watch a game.

Sounds like an excellent idea, probably the next best thing to a proper reserve team. Well done to those involved in this idea, hopefully it will help us to hold onto our brightest young players and fringe players.

Southampton have their own development squad which is loosely called the 'under 21s' team, after pulling out of the proper reserve league, for training up young players who can break into the first team.
