If i recall correctly -Dan was due back mid October-and many expected him to 'automatically' rejoin the squad.

 

Personally-i thought it unlikely and that all sorts of things can happen in between.

 

It does seem to be a bit quiet either way just the same-and i guess he is back in thre UK.

 

i was simply wondering what the situation is.

 

No doubt a few will refer me to 'financial constraints'-fair enough-but that was always going to be the case once we did our normal early cup exit'so nothing new for me there.

 

I have consistently maintained that we are a midfield player short and whilst DS may not be the best midfielder in the league-he is more than adequate and his energy has a knock on effect on others. (plus can cover full back and indeed a sriker option)

 

I wonder if there is a chance we could shortly see him in a 'gate shirt again ?

Iain wanted to sign him on his return but the budget wouldn't stretch and it certainly won't at the moment.

Not sure why I'm having to repeat myself now. The Dan Stubbs situation was soley related to the playing budget. Iain has one, and he has / had allocated all of it to the current squad. It really is as straight forward as that with nothing else in play.

 

Iain also saw those qualities in Dan including his versatiltiy. If Dan hadn't taken the opportunity to go to Iceland, he would have been around at the start of pre-season and would probably have been a Gate player now. But he chose to go to Iceland - and in his situaion who can blame him - but things need to move on. Iain knew what his budget was and has worked to that.

So in effec t what your actually saying then Steve without glossing over or deferring from the isues or inferences that DS maybe or would have been an MFC player if things/circumstances had gone differently..... does that make any sense Steve??
