After seeing cliffs interview about the budget on kentish football website with such a small squad if we have to let players go because of wages things could get tough after christmas we dont want another season of fighting the drop to get 500 at each home game would need to be in top 3 in the league pushing to go up i think if we have to let players go the crowds might drop again its a very tough call

After seeing cliffs interview about the budget on kentish football website .........

Just to be clear, that wasn't Kentish Football's interview. The story and pretty much all the words were lifted straight from the official Margate website. The spin that McCartney likes to put on material that is not his own is sometimes a little misleading so for the real story, I suggest you follow the official site.

I am not one for critisising on here and this is just for discussion, but, with us out of the two main cup competitions, do you think that it was a bit of mistake not to have taken the ILC more seriously. IOC states he is putting a strong team out tonight for the KSC, but surely the Isthmian cup would have been a bit more presticious. I don't know if these competipions are money losers, but as the clubs progress more people attend which I assume becomes profitable. Surely the players get paid if they play or not so why not use them, bar resting certain players. We have been deperateley unlucky in the cup competitions this year and I believe with Welford fit we would still be in the Trophy and a possible 4 league points higher in the league. However with suspensions coming up, we could be facing another few weeks of mediocrity.

What the hell happened to my post!

Anyway, as I was saying, hardly any clubs attract their break-even crowd. Our gates are about sixth or seventh best in the division so god knows what problems other clubs face.

Spot on CE. It's very naive to assume that attendances alone will cover the wage bill. Do you really think Concord Rangers' attendances of around 150 (maybe 200 at a push) cover their weekly wage bill? And I'm pretty sure they're top 5, if you're wondering.
