Me and Mr are hopefully B&B-ing it from Friday to Sunday.

Looking for a place in Exeter then gettting train to Barstaple and then bus / taxi to Bideford.

Phoned Bideford AFC on my lunch break, poor chap (strong devonshire accent) that answered didnt even know the draw had been done, so i broke the news to him.

Advised that if staying in Exeter, then you will need to get a train to Barnstaple and then from there the ground is about 9 miles away.

A taxi would take about 10-15 mins, he said. Tho looking at the distance on a map, probably slightly longer. Said a taxi would be about £10-£15+

Mentioned good hotels in Bideford / Exeter area.

Have also heard that there is a bus service that goes from Barnstaple to Bideford. One every 15mins and takes 30mins.

Which is quicker than the train from Barnstaple to Bideford, which takes about 1 hour 15 mins.

Ave it!

:bounce:

The train from Exeter to Barnstaple takes 1 hour 15 minutes Mrs. Then you have a bus or taxi journey to Bideford from there.

To be honest, unless you plan on sightseeing in Exeter (don't think there is too much to see apart from a uni and a castle) it is probably best to stay in bideford,Barnstaple from memory isn't that pleasant but bideford is a really nice Coastal town with nice restaurants and pubs

Problem is we're going down on a Friday night after work so it's easier to stay at somewhere like Exeter rather than worrry about getting a train and then a bus to Bideford at 9/10pm at night.

We'll get to Bideford for around midday on the Saturday to make a day of it.

we are going down on saturday morning, very early.

Have just booked in to a lovely hotel in the centre of bideford overlooking the estuary for £70 for 2 nights.

Think there is only 1 double room left and 2 twin rooms left so anyone on a tight budget better move fast.

hotel is called tantons hotel

for anyone getting a train into bideford that day,the ground is pretty much next to the station and also slap bang in the middle of the town centre.

The hotel i have booked looks like being only a 5 minute walk from the ground and this is where i believe the majority of the hotels are!!

can't hide my excitement for this trip and its still 3 weeks away, lets get as many down there as possible

Not sure where you are getting your info from but the train stopped coming into Bideford decades ago!! The nearest station is barnstaple - 9 miles away. The chippy I mentioned earlier is about five doors away from Tantons Hotel!

The King Arms is next door to that. Not too far away is Crabby Dicks - the Scarborough gang enjoyed their night there!! There are loads to choose from so you wont go dry....
