Bideford Away in the Trophy

Eastside Urchin

Nothing concrete has been set yet with regards to this game.

I personally will be travelling down the independantly with the family but will still arrange the travel if the demand is there.

A coach would only be viable if it was full but we could do a 29 seater or minibus although the latter option would probably require someone to drive it.

Either way it will not be cheap.

would probably need 2 coach drivers if there was a coach as 7 hrs each way would be a bit much and possibly illegal, thereby upping the price a bit more.

think carsharing and possibly staying in b&b's is the only option. will do my best to make this match, but it'll be expensive and it's only the fa fckn trophy after all...

I actually really fancy this, but the chances of me going are slim, if a coach was going then it would be more likely, maybe trains are cheap?

Well you can get a return train for £25 (edit, sorry, just seen the small print, to get it for £25 you have to be over 55, it is more like £45 return for under 55's)

London > Barnstaple (leaving at either 9:06 or 10:06 which gets you there at 12:35 or 13:37)

Barnstaple > London (leaving at 19:16 which would get you back to London at 23:38)

According to Bidefords website, the ground is around 9-10 miles from Barnstaple station,

i'll bite. it's an away day we're unlikely to have the opportunity for again, so i'm naturally interested. i wanted to know when the draw was in case we got someone interesting. we did. (and i'd much rather shlep it out to the west country than visit those monobrowed knuckle draggers at boreham wood).

will have to have a word with the wife to be and have a check on the finances. thinking of either staying at a cheap b & b, with some family either in taunton or minehead and make a weekend of it, or just get tanked up on red bull and do the drive in one day. shame it isn't in the warmer months as a massive urchin camping trip could've been quite a laugh.

having a look at east london dan's posts though, fan urchin inter city firm could also be rather amusing, cards and cans on the carriage, cabs at the other end.

As I said that road 38 years ago was a mare, so God knows what it is like on a Saturday now.

And if you get a cab that is metered...could work out very expensive indeed.

Also, in reference to your previous comment, yes, you would probably need two drivers

which of course bumps up the cost even further.

Cost us around £600 to go to Bedlington in 1997 and that is just 30 miles further.

Possibly,I personally think that 8am would be the latest you would want to leave

Personally I feel that hiring a mini bus and getting someone to drive it be the only option, coach would cost around 800 plus and we wouldn't fill it,otherwise weekend trip away seems the best bet

Had a look at train fares comes to about £64 return from paddington which still takes 3 1/2 hours at least last train to arrive back in LDN is at 1916 gets in at 2338 not sure whether the train route is a viable option anymore Travelodge at Barnstable 6 miles away from Bediford is 45 pound between 3 people.
