Town made a fairly average side in Banbury look good in the first half and had it not been for a solid performance by Morgan in goal, we could and should have been 2 down before we scored.

 

Second half performance was a little better, which is more than can be said of the referee, who made a number of bizarre decisions, culminating in Banbury's penalty, when their forward slipped in the box. ( Even their fans behind the goal were laughing).

 

As for Town, still lots of work to be done with those playing in front of a generally sound defence. Too much giving the ball away and a strange reluctance by the management to use Harrison Chatting. When he did come on, he was heavily involved in creating the second goal - and just as well, bearing in mind the ref's poor judgement at the end.

 

Very disappointing crowd at under 300.

Couldn't believe how much we gave the ball away in the first half, just made it easy for them. Once we got the goal we were able to exert a measure of control on proceedings, I felt Banbury paid the price for their high energy style and tired badly in the final half hour.

 

I think we're missing Hyde in the centre of the park - somebody who just sits in front of the back 4 - as both Ced and Sean both want to push forward leaving gaps behind them. Good to see Brayley and Robinson on the scoresheet, Junior Luke had his best game for us as well.

Agree with what has been said, very poor in the first half but improved in the second/ Ref gave some awful decisions, including the penalty, mostly against us, as usual. But another game won and into the next round. We have been lucky so far in this competition and must improve if we are to go further.

We were fortunate to go in level at half time having been thoroughly outplayed. That said at least we managed to keep a clean sheet.

 

We were better in the second half and managed to take more of our chances than them. I thought our pen. was definitely a pen. and theirs definitely wasn't but then again I would say that!

 

I expect Banbury will feel a bit mugged not to have at least got a draw but I think our greater nous and experience got us through the game.

 

MoTM for me was Morgan. He made some good saves to keep us in it in the first half.

 

A few more quid in the bank and through to the next round. That'll do for me.

Our eagle eyed skipper saved the day when he noticed Harrison, - who obviously was not expecting to get on because he was already part dressed in his Halloween outfit when he took to the field, -. swiftly moved and ripped the comical gloves off, and threw them to the side, thus saving H from ridicule.

Bearing in mind the length of time he has spent on the bench recently, I was surprised he didn't come on with a bobble hat, scarf and leg warmers !!!!!

 

Nico Anelka (with gloves) he aint, but per minute on the pitch, he is still one of our more creative players. He should have been on earlier to run at a tiring defence, two of whom had been yellow carded. Still, that's what I like about the game, we can all pretend to be manager, without the hassle.

 

Onwards and upwards to Sutton !!!

Seems like the team are pulling good results out of the hat . Once again afraid cannot comment on game as cannot be there much these days , but just to say keep it going Blues !!!
