"Final" chance for Enfield

Enfield Football Club have been given until 5pm on Friday 5th September to obtain unconditional clearance from Boreham Wood FC that the Club can play all its home matches for the whole season at Meadow Park. Representatives of the club have met the League's Board of Directors to discuss the club's position. Having already missed the first four games of the season, the club have been warned that if an agreement cannot be reached by the deadline it is unlikely the club will be allowed to take part in Division One North this season because it will have too many games to catch up.

I turned up and was told at the gate that it was £8 to get in.

I asked why they thought that they could charge £8 and was told "Its the FA cup". I pointed out that at Enfield Town yesterday I had only been charged £5. "But this is not Enfield Town" I pointed out that they were right and saw the game using my ladder from the neighbouring allotments. Only cost £5 to the allotment holder.

As for the game. The ball was in the air for more times than you see in an Essex league game which is saying something. Midway through the second half Enfield started to tire and show their lack of match fitness. Hemel were certainly on top at this stage and scored through a cross from the right byeline and shot on the edge of the goal area.

Enfield substituted a forward after the goal and began to show more enterprise. A forward tried a long shot around 10 minutes later which hit the bar. The linesman said that it had crossed the line. 1-1.

It seemed to me that Enfield Town would give both of them a run for their money.

The "minimum" admission in the EP, Preliminary and First Qualifying Round is £3 but as long as the two clubs "mutually" agree the price of admission ( this can certainly be higher) subject to the above, then that's fine. What amuses me is that, in the Competition Proper, the minimum is £6 .. could you ever imagine paying that to get into Highbury or White Hart Lane... many times I have been spun the same yarn about "Oh it's the F A CUP - Well, there's no blame on the door of Soho Square this time !

According to the Regional Results on London ITV Teletext tonight, the FA Cup result this afternoon was ENFIELD TOWN 1 1 HEMEL HEMPSTEAD TOWN, now bearing in mind the excellent performance against Clacton Town, yesterday that's not a bad result .... and how many other clubs in the country are allowed two pops at the competition .... or was it meant to be some other club ?

Steph, I'm the gateman you talked to for a few second's yesterday about the cost of getting in.

It now cost's this season £8 to get in at "home" games when we get up and running. The club put the prices up on the gate, not me!!! were you the bloke with the Enfield scarf and glass's that was watching from the allotment's? As for your comment about it only cost £5 for the town yesterday, well to be fair what has that got to do with Enfield F.C? The club's deside the price's of gates i just take the money!

Only TWO people had a dig about how much it cost to get in and he still paid AND bought a programe!!!

Oh yeah it was a central midfielder who scored not a forward, and it was also WELL over the line as well, even some Hemel fan's agreed with that!

How can you have an admission price when you do not have a ground? or even a ground share in place. ( not being funny, just don't understand how you can make a policy with out knowing the cost of renting a ground)

I was having a dig at the way that you do not accept that £8 is too much to see a non-league side in the lower reaches of the non league pyramid. Especially as this was the preliminary round and not even the qualifying round of the FA cup.

My father and I had a debate about the last time Enfield played in the preliminary rounds of the FA cup. I reckon it was around 1962! They certainly have not played at such a low level during the late 60's to yesterday.

£8 is nearly twice the minimum wage when tax is taken into account the club are expecting somebody on the minimum wage to work two hours to watch a game of football that lasts 90 minutes. It demonstrates that the owners of the company that is called Enfield football club have lost touch with reality.

Does the 2 include me and what was the paying gate at the ground yesterday.

BTW old age pensioners had to pay £5 which is appalling. It is clear that EFC do not want supporters except to fleece them. As the former signature tune went.

"So whats new!"

Look steph When did I ever say that I accepted it should be £8 on the gate???

If you can recall. On a post on the efc fourm I was one of the 1st to object to the prices going up for a team that has just gone down!!!

As to the other points - Yes the two included you as I said one paid one didnt, you paid a fellow to use his ladder.

You least forget it costs the same to get in at boreing wood plus an extra £2 too sit b4 your prog and a cuppa tea!!!

Canvey £9 b4 anything else and I sure there are others around that charge an arm and a leg other than us!!!

What was the cost of getting in to an Enfield game the last time I watched? I think it was £6 at the Wood as I remember, and also at a lot of the Ryman Premier grounds. I know that the E's are playing in a lower league now, but I would assume that it would be about £7-8 to get in to one of their games now. I think we have become so used at ETFC to paying £4 a throw and a pound for a programme that when it comes to the F.A.Cup and the inevitable higher prices we throw up our hands in amazement. Well personally, I wouldn't mind it if we were at Brimmo in the F.A.Cup qualifying rounds and they upped the price to £8. I know where the money goes. I have to doff my cap to Norman though, for using his initiative to see a game for virtually nothing. Did anyone get a picture of this?
