Disciplinary Sanctions

Recommended Posts

I notice from this weeks list of Surrey County FA Disciplinary cases quite a few "star" players won't be playing tomorrow due mainly to suspension following 5 bookings this season. Several of the Premier title contenders are affected.

Got me thinking how important having a strong squad must be and how difficult it must be for managers having to juggle their sides to accommodate.

Sorry JJ - wouldn't be appropriate to name names but I'm sure your Club Secretary has the details.

My point was more about the difficulties managers must have in fitting in a "spare" decent player for the odd game just to cover a star players suspension - doubtless that player returns for the next game.

You can see every suspension in the country on the county FA sites.

For CCL level and below you have to look either by club name or player name. Above that and it's done by league.

F'rinstance - Steven Brown - Cove - 1 match from 06/11/2010.

And three Sine Die bans from 2007. I'm wondering if that's the Paul Wilson I know and went to school with.

Adam Foulser - Egham Town - 2 matches from 26/10/2010

Simon Cox - Chertsey Town - 2 matches from 09/11/2010

etc. etc.

One issue with the National database VP is that it isn't always bang up to date with County suspensions. It doesn't for example include the 2 Camberley lads that will miss todays match due to accumulating 5 bookings. Given how well those 2 played last week at Egham, I don't envy the Camberley management task of covering their absence today

We're a club not a team GF. Alktogether we have about 40 players signed on CCL forms.

Virtually everyone playing for the Reserves will get first team appearances at some stage of the season, a lot of the regular first-teamers will play reserve team football this season.

Our under 18's will play for the Reserves and, if needed, for the first team during the season.

It's these clubs that treat their reserves and youth as separate species that will suffer when it comes to injuries and suspensions.
