I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here - 2010

Recommended Posts

I was brought up to think that there's never a good reason or excuse for hitting a woman.

what if she burns dinner!! ;)

Never happened yet, she wouldn't dare. I'd withold her pocket money.

I remember when Sean Connery told everyone that "sometimes a woman needs a good slap every now and then" - I recall looking at him, taller by a foot and twice the weight of his wife Micheline and thinking "what a wan ker".

Following her brief I'm A Celebrity appearance, I see that Sheryl Gascoigne has surprisingly accused the Police of not doing enough to protect battered wives after more than 100 women were murdered by their partners last year. She spoke out while jumping on the bandwagon and joining campaigners to deliver a petition to 10 Downing Street calling for domestic violence services to be safeguarded. Sheryl said 'i go to refuges and the stories I'm hearing are that the Police are failing the families and that is the saddest thing'. She called for reforms and urged Ministers not to cut Police budgets.

As a quite high profile ex battered wife I would have thought that Sheryl Gasgoigne has every right to speak out, and to suggest she is jumping on a bandwagon is ridiculous and offensive to all victims of domestic violence.

I know you rarely answer questions, but I cant help wondering why you seem to think that domestic violence services shouldn't be protected. Your not one of those pathetic creatures that thinks its acceptable to knock the little lady at home about are you Rhodes? and do you have a vested interest in this subject?.

Where did I say that however I wouldn't really class Sheryl as being 'a battered wife' in the true sense of the word, Gazza may have given her a couple of slaps but I think that's as far as it went!

So, giving your wife the occasional slap, plus a few black eyes is OK then. Does Mrs Rhodes share those sentiments?

What do members think of the two surprise evictions thus far, namely Sheryl Gascoigne and Lembit Opik, as well as Nigel Havers walking away, it's spellbinding stuff isn't it. Sheryl was surprisingly as dull as ditch water wasn't she and you could possibly see why Paul Gascoigne used her as a punchbag!

Missunderstood - Like I said in the above post Sheryl was as dull as ditch water during her short time on the show and was the first 'celebrity' to be voted off by the general public, she came across as very frustrating and irritating and would have undoubtably been like a red rag to a bull to Paul Gascoigne. I agree with Loosely that there should never be a reason or excuse to hit a woman however after watching the show I could see why Gazza took his frustations out on Sheryl.

What has any of that to do with you seeing why Paul Gascoigne used her as a punchbag.?

Similar to Sheryl Gascoigne, you can perhaps also see why actress Natalie Cassidy, of Eastenders 'fame', was beaten with a slipper and smeared with mascara recently by her fiance Adam Cottrell at their home in Ravenscroft, Herts. Cottrell has been bailed until 21 June and warned that he could face jail however if Cassidy is anything like her character Sonia Jackson in real life then you can see why he did it.

Is there any truth in the rumour that Natalie was wearing a plastic wetsuit, a studded collar, and carrying a whip at the time of the alleged attack.

Not to be confused with this years series but I see that Sheryl Gascoigne appeared before the Leverson inquiry last week telling how she was harrassed by reporters and photographers while heavily pregnant with Paul Gascoigne's son. She described crawling on her hands and knees while her arm was in a sling to escape being photographed through her windows at home however the enquiry challenged her over her own voluntary media appearances including selling her wedding photos to Hello magazine and appearing on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here last year.
