Anyone going to Leighton...

Recommended Posts

I reckon the draw is very much regionalised at the early stages to maximise interest. It would not surprise me whatsoever if our next opponents are local i.e. one of Beaconsfield, Windsor, North Greenford, Ashford Town or AFC Hayes.

I saw he was pissed off at being subbed at half time last weekend but surely he hasn't left?

He has more character than that I would have thought he would want to prove himself

Also the draw is on friday incase anyone is interested

If Stuart Swift is made of the right stuff I cannot believe he will up-sticks and leave after 3 months.

He was player of the month for August playing some great football.

Paul Coyne was quoted as saying that Swifty was thoroughly enjoying his football at Slough and was probably playing the best football of his career.

OK, things haven't gone so great for a few weeks now, not just for Stuart Swift but for the whole team.

Now things are a lot harder we need players at Slough who can show that they have the bottle to stay and fight for their place in the team and not just leave when the going gets a bit tough.

I sincerely hope Stuart Swift has the character to stay and show us what a good player he is.

Swift has been in the form of his life and now two months later he is having a bad patch. Nothing has changed other than the morale of the team and any team need to be a solid unit.

If stuart is jeopardising this then he should go, if not then he should stay as he has bags of talent.

I think we need players that WANT to play for Slough

come on Staurt ..dont go back to Burnham... prove us wrong...

btw good luck with your new arrival..due any time soon...

Sounds like Burnham are in trouble financially with their low gates etc.

Going back to Burnham would be like going down a dead end and would certainly show a lack of ambition.

The Express is reporting that he is heading back to Burnham. Seems like a waste of Swift's talent.

It would be a great shame if he were to leave based simply on the posts on a forum during a dip in form. I would imagine the same comments are made about poor performances at any club, regardless of whether they use an online forum or not.

Of course, the Express says on it's back page about Anderson taking charge of Saturdays match on it's back page, then in the match report section it said it was Bateman that made the 3 half time changes! Consistancy it ain't!

Maybe he is one of the players who reads the forum and has read some of the daft stuff written about the players on here?

Firstly, this forum is no different to any other football forum in the country.

There will always be positive/negative/daft comments made by supporters who are entitled to have their say whether rightly or wrongly.

For most daft/negative comments there will normally always be a sensible/sane comment.

Stuart Swift, like most players who read football forums are not stupid, they will know supporters are very fickle and if they've got half a brain they will take any negative comments with a pinch of salt.

In Stuart Swift's case, I'm pretty certain him wanting to leave has nothing to do with the negative comments made on this forum because there have been hardly any made about him other than, of late, his form has dipped compared to his excellent early season form.

My guess is that he has been a bit disappointed of late because his form has dipped below the high standards that he sets himself culminating with what IMO was a potentially reckless/hot-headed decision by Dave Anderson to make 3 substitutions at half-time against Leighton when only one of the two players was injured.

I might be wrong but that's how I see it.

Correction: 'one of the three players was injured'

You are wrong, several of the players I have spoken to have been pissed off with the negative comments on here, and two of them have left the club

partly because of those negative comments. I am not saying that is the main reason they have left, but it is one of the reasons. I wil leave you to guess

who those two players are.

You're wrong RR. Stuart has his reasons (and by all accounts has done for some time) there is no point second guessing his decision.

He will be leaving and an announcement will be made when it goes through and is finalized following leagues rules. Let's instead now look forward.

Back on topic since this is a thread about the Leighton game, I don't think Anderson's decision was hot headed or reckless.

Tom,

If, at half-time, as in the Leighton game, players were having poor games, most managers would give the team a half-time rollicking and if they don't improve substitutions will be made.

There was 45 minutes to play, any injuries early in the second half and we would have been down to 9 or 10 players, possibly less, for possibly most of the second half.

Why do you think you managers hardly ever make 3 subs at half-time unless it's forced upon them.

RR: have you thought of applying for the manager's job? In my view the subs were good decisions, as we had a lot more spark after those three came on. Also,

if a manager thinks a player is not performing, he will take him off at any time, be it half time or even before half time in some of the games I have played in over

the years, regardless or whether or not the side may pick up injuries.
