Cove 0-1 Croydon

 

 

Cove dominated the whole match up until the last 10 due to using all 3 subs and then having a player injured.

 

Croydon keeper was man of the match with a string of great saves. Should of had a pen when a shot was going in that struck the arm of a croydon player but the ref was not placed well enough to give it.

 

Croydon got the winner with 5 mins to go from a free kick.

 

We said at half time that if we didnt put one of these chances away that croydon would get 1 with 5 to go. How true that was!!

The expression on Steve Baker's face at the end said it all - we should have got at least a point and were looking capable of even gettng a win but some leaden footed and cotton wool brained defending meant that we conceded a second half penalty that Joe Johnson scored comfortably. We had gone behind to a Martin Girling goal 20 minutes in, and levelled when Charlie McCarthy headed in a Matt Grave corner after 36. The Camberley keeper pulled off a top drawer save from a Charlie Muldowney shot late on and we missed a couple of chances, but Justin Gray had to save well a couple of times as well. Overall I think we deserved a point and to keep Kroons happy I wont't go on about the failure to award a penalty for a foul on Adam Foulser in the box after 5 minutes, the barge in the area by Girling on Matt Grave two minutes later., the two footed lunge by Dan Griffiths on Anthony Oaks (31) or Bobby Hogg's 41st minute stamp on Jamie Houghton

... thus confirming what I thought of you, Kroons; time you took your anti-Egham bias and placed it where the sun don't shine. I take it you didn't see the two footed lunge then? Or the stamp? Don't bother replying cos we know what it'll be. Happily it did not ruin what was the best first half, at least, that we have seen this season, not by us or against us, but by both teams.I am not claiming we were hard done by, but when Krooner accuses us of being a dirty side and his own side are no angels either ... We lost because we conceded a stupid penalty and Chris Foster produced one of the best saves we have seen all season.

Epsom and Ewell 2 Badshot Lea 2

 

A much better performance and deserved draw for us today - no need for pens and own goals today . Our much improved teamwork and a towering header from Jamie Reeve gave us a half time lead . Badshot came back quite strong equalised and scoired a very good longshot to go ahead. I was just thinking that it would be most likely our best performance for weeks would go unrewarded - which would be ironic given our two recent scabby draws - when Dave Stephens rose like a trampolining gazelle to beat the keeper to a cross to re establish parity.

 

When it looked for a lot of the second half that we may hang on at 1-0 I must have been checking my watch every twenty seconds . I look forward to the game all week and then spend half of it willing it to finish.

Knaphill 2-2 Sheerwater

 

Watched Knaphill vs Sheerwater. thought it was thoroughly enjoyable.

 

Sheerwater had a few different faces in the team that played at Hayes a few weeks ago. Blonde lad upfront was exceptional. End to end, fair result I thought. Stood between the 2 dugouts and listened to the banter. Is the little fella for Knaphill Bob pritchard? He moaned and complained relentlessly!!!!!

 

Can't see how he will be raising Knaphills' morale with his negativity.

 

4 great goals and great saves in the game too.

Some interesting results in Div 1 today. Chobham holding Worcester Park, Knaphill only drawing, Lammas hammered and FNE beating South Park.

 

Talking of FNE, does their ground border the main road as you head towards the M3 J4a? If so, I saw them warming up when I was en route to Basingstoke for FA cup game (which was shocking!).
