Revolving Doors

It is interesting to note that even Craig Edwards, in his preview to the Margate game highlighted that too many players had been used.

I am convinced that the fact that we have had such an unsettled side for several seasons now is the reason for our lack of success - Grays Athleitc were criticised for their huge turnover of players ( look what happened to them !!) and I am sure that we have the same problem. The recent post by Scotblues ( he needs to change his handle to yorkieblues) shows how many players have moved on in recent years ( if only we could hear what goes on behind the scenes!!)

In my view we shoudl adopt the "left back rule". Apart from that flashy git Ashley Cole and Gareth Bale (who is Welsh) most English left backs are solid, dependable, and will do their best to win a game. People like Danny Kerrigan or Billy Goldstone - ah now if we had a squad of Billy's we would be top of the league.

So management, please get a settled squad, the 11 on the pitch don't need to be the best players but it does help if they have played together occasionally, know each others name and have a bit of respect and understanding.

And finally a few words about Bertie Big Bucks - now he is a fine player, but you have to savour him as he passes across the team sheet on his way to the next paycheck. I'm sure that there will be a few miffed supporters if he keeps Danny Charge, a very promising young player with an eye for goal out of the team.

Lets give a cheer for a few Billy Goldstones plus a forward line of Steve Jones, Leon Gutzmore and Paul Battram if we could fit them all into the revolving doors.

I do agree with most of your post, when I first started coming to watch Billericay, Matt Jones was in charge, the team was:

McMahon, McSweeney, Heffer, Blewitt, Kerrigan, Whelpdale, Hunter, Dormer, Hodges, Flack and Holland. It was pretty much that team week in, week out.

The following season, we lost Whelpdale and Holland, bought in Abbott, Woods-Garness and Boot.

The past three seasons we must have had nigh on 100 players pull on a Blue Shirt. The above team had a great team spirit and I know that they regulary mixed with

each other off the pitch. I now think that we have a team of talented individuals, hoping to use us as a stepping stone to go on to better things. (Well its good enough for Rooney).

I was not about when Brayley was last here, but after hearing what the Chairman had to say I do think that he is getting a bit of unwarrented stick, he is undoubtably a very good

player, and surely an asset to our "Squad". If he is playing better than our other strikers, put him in the team, if not the strikers on the pitch know that they will have

to perform as they will have a talented player on the bench after their place.
