Aylesbury Vs Windsor Latest

Just got back from a cold wet night in Aylesbury. Not the best of games but still plenty going on and the job has been done! Two super goals from Pearce and Chenns and a penalty save from Delroy too. Sadly Delroy went off with what i think was a leg injury although he did remain in dugout so maybe not too bad. No Justin Clayton in defence tonight so with a reshaped defence as you can imagine we were all over the place at the back at times. Larkin done ok in goal once he had settled. No doubt that the best team won tonight though. Looking forward to the trip up to Brackley again now as they beat Burnham 4-0 tonight.

Tonight, like Saturday, wass a game if two halves, if you'll pardon the pun.

The first half Aylesbury came at us like an express train, with a fair few good chanes and terrific saves they finally broke the deadlock after three successive great saves from Delroy they finally beat him. Shortly after the ball was played down the left when the ref whistled for what most of us thought was offside, but no, he pointed to the spot. Was tehre even anyone in the box, what happened, was it even a penalty, no-one seems to know, because, to be honest, the only person who saw it wass the ref!! Penalty it was, and a second goal would not have flattered Aylesbury, but a terrific save by Delroy gave Windsor a lifeline.

Aylesbury looked teh stronger team, but as the half wore on they appeared to tire and the energy expended early on was starting to show. Dave Pearce had a few shots and right on half time Chenns ran on to a great thorugh ball to the right of the goal, as the keeper approached narrowing the angle he squared it to Dave Pearce who finished well. Somehow we got to half time level, stillnot sure how.

The second half saw Windsor start brightly, the man of the match (and the home tie) was Aylesbury's goalkeeper. Save after save kept out long shots and some closer ones. Windsor were now dominating, but Aylesbury looking to catch us on the break. An obvious handball in the box not given to Windsor, what looked like a penalty not given the other end a few more good saves from their keeper and then a ball for Chenns, he loses the last defender and then from just inside box blasts it into the keepers bottom right hand corner and seals the victory.

Dave Pearce again looked good, Jake played well in flashes, Chenns looked isolated and ended up dropping very deep, but showed just why he is playing with a superb finish. The defence looked disjointed and got broken down far too easily.

But we are through, take the money and book our trip to Brackley, not a great draw but a nice place to visit.

Well done lads, its all about winning, and that is what we did!!

We really looked all at sea in the first 40 minutes. They must have been absolutely gutted to only go in level at half time as they battered us for around 40 minutes. Every time Aylesbury attacked they looked like they would score. Delroy kept us in the game, it could easily have been 4 or 5 nil to them after 30 minutes, not including the penalty!

However as the 1st half wore on the Aylesbury players noticeably tired and we started to get on top. In fact when we did score it didn't come as much of a surprise as we suddenly looked dominant.

Second half we seemed to be in control but Aylesbury still carved out a few half chances.

Both goals came from good play from Chenns. 1st goal he did the unselfish thing and teed up Pearce for a tap in and the second goal he showed good strength to hold off a challenge and then powered a shot passed the keeper.

In the end you would probably say the better football team won but Aylesbury will be livid with themselves as they should have had the game wrapped up by half time.

Again their keeper was excellent. He really should be playing at a higher level.

Not our best performance but its all about getting through in the cup.
