Hornchurch/Romford groundshare

Seriously,i would not want to help a club that would not return the compliment.

As far as i am concerned a groundshare would only be beneficial if the council provided a brand spanking new pitch and a groundsman as well and outed the athletics club and track and put up four brand spanking new stands around the pitch.

Will al respects i can't see them doing either and our pitch will not hold up to 60-70 games a season plus reserve fixtures

Not sure this will go anywhere but as I've said if it happens I think it will benefit us more than Romford, They will always be deemed the tenants. TBH I don't wish them any long term damage but it is nice to think of old Fenners crying into his liquidized dinner

problem romford have is that until they are in the Ryman premier,no investor will take them seriously, even then, investment at this level nowadays seems to be a thing of the past apart from a few notable exceptions, the money just isn't there.

They apparantly don't pay wages and while their manager is obviously a good manager you need to pay your players to get out of that league as there will always be a team or two who can find good players

In principle I think ground sharing is the way ahead for most clubs,BUT one club to be aware of is that bedouin muppet club Romford. No one wants to be another Collier Row, a decent club cheated out of existance. However a merger could be good, called 'Hornchurch and Romford' for one season then drop the name Romford.

i think micky woodward had the same idea for us and grays lol

Romturd may have a lot of work ahead of them. They have collected monies in 'The Boro Ground Collection Bucket!' on the pretence of financing development of the new stadium. If the new ground doesn't go ahead I presume they will track down all those who have given to give them their money back?

I wouldn't be completely against a groundshare if a) The council employed a full time groundsman as was suggested before b Romford are aware that as the Ryman Premier side that Hornchurch would get preferencial treatment on fixtures and c) Romford didn't have any say whatsoever in any activities that Colin did in terms of the clubhouse. My concern would be that once Romford got their foot in the door, they would start making increasing demands.

Edited by cup of tea

many romford would boycott the clubhouse immediately because, you know, they're just like that.

their fans fought in two world wars so we could have the freedom to tell them to fck off. thanks guys, now do one.

he probably did, but i suspect it would have been the hornchurch part that would have been dropped. we had a very close shave there. MW would have totally raped the club and the fans, possibly literally as well as figuratively.

my concerns exactly,to be honest if it ever did happen then they should provide their own bar.

The bar would be the one thing that is safe as I believe the club owns that. That was always the issue when they shared previously as they didn't like the fact they took no revenue from the bar and when asked to guarantee an amount over the bar each game they boycotted it. they would need to purchase their own bar which I don't think would be possible as there would be no free space within the ground to site one and they would need to obtain a new licence.

Saying that they do have some money from collections for the new fence, perhaps they could could purchase a brazier get some milk crates and sit around that drinking bottles of stout after the game. should bring back memories of the war years for many of them :beer2:

I wouldn't mind Romford using the clubhouse as long as :-

1) No costs are incurred to Hornchurch whatsoever

2) If Colin or any of the staff wants it for something else that there is no arguement over who gets use of the clubhouse

(No 'but we booked it first' etc)...

End of the day, that's just my opinion though.

you just see how many of their fans turn up to tonights presidents cup game, none.

/bet they usually get 10-20 for their capital league games and this one is closer to home for most of them.

Fact of the matter is that they have a giant chip on their shoulder that wayne rooney would be proud of

They would of course be welcome to patronise the bar thus allowing us to take their money. I'm sure they could also approach those that run the club and ask if the clubhouse was available for hire which I guess applies to anyone?

Sounds fair enough to me.

We should welcome them into our clubhouse and the stadium with open arms. I would be more than happy to buy Fenners a pint it would be worth it to see the look on his face
