Kroons any idea as to what is happening at Crabtree Rec.I've heard there is a lot of people opposed to any re-developement,it would be a shame if the rec. is just left in the state it is in but it would feck up Camberleys plans for a new ground if it is.

Lots going on Duncs. There is a group against it that are doing their level best to drum up support. Sure there will be plenty of developments in the next few weeks/months.

I remember a few years ago when i played for the club, there was talk then of developing the club, well the histeria that was created by the local community was unbelievable, they got a petition up and literally thousands of people signed it to stop us from getting any bigger.

These people make me laugh. In the current financial climate someone is offering to invest in their local area and improve the enviroment etc and all they are worried about is little Rover will have to change his route and there is probaly a rare Newt hidden in the undergrowth that nobodys ever heard of and could'nt give one about anyway. The benefits to the local community building the new facilities outweigh not doing so massivly.

If it gets turned down then no offence to Camberley Town but I hope it turns into a real cr@phole and they start to complain cause its poorly lit and there are needles everywhere. Money is only going to be more difficult to come by in the next few years and if they say No now then thats it. Camberley will fall behind, just ask F'boro and Aldershot residents how lack of investment in towns works out?

Well said KS07.

The NIMBYs are accusing the football club of bribing councillors (a councillor lives in Krooner Road and we paid him some money to repair his roof after being damaged by balls hitting it), they're making up stories about hooliganism (the last hooligans we had at the club were Duncs and you) and they're covering the internet and local tv with bullshit about the whole park being taken over by the club despite the plans clearly showing that won' t happen. All we want is the crappy old scrubland at the north end of the park that no-one dares go to. Most of the park is a no-go area after dark anyway so we may even be helping out in that respect.

Excuse me for blatant advertising here but if anyone cares to give us some support you can at http://www.isupportctfc.com/.

You can view an outline of the plans at http://www.camberleytownfc.co.uk/KeyFacts.pdf or you can wait until later this week when the formal application goes into Surrey Heath Borough Council where all the plans and associated paperwork will be available for public viewing.

To be honest a few of us were sceptical of the whole idea when the plans were first drawn up but we've all been won over and believe it'll be good for the club, good for the park and good for our local kids. And yes, the company paying for it all will be making money out of it as well - everyone's a winner!

And if it doesn't get planning permission then we'll just have to make do where we are and get on with it for another few years.

I'll have you know that Farnborough is in the process of being regenerated. It is a biggish job though :)
