Abusing officials

Crusher

Recommended Posts

I am slightly concerned about the behaviour of our manager and his staff on the bench who constantly moan at officials week in and week out.

Dont get me wrong i love the fact that the manager is passionate but i do feel that his reactions filter on to the pitch and affect certain players in their tackling and cause them to challange officials and then pick p needless bookings and suspensions.

As we have to listen to Welsie tell us to mind our language each match perhaps he should have a word with the bench.

Oh i got it wrong thought he was against Horesham i am sure the refereee asked him to jump over the barrier or stand in the changing room door way.

To true the abue that is hurled at Referees and Assistant referees is geting worse game by game.

Is not difficult enough for them to have to take it on the pitch from the 22 other officials out there but to take it from the dugouts is just overboard.

Does no one realise that these officials do this job on a Saturday afternoon and mid week out of sheer love of the game and not for the match fee and expenses + the free food & drink.

How would you like your every mistake, your poor eyesight, lack of physical fitness and physical shape to be questioned by the paying public.

Since you registered less than a week ago, Crusher, this is the second time you've had a pop at our manager (the other time was in the 'cup football' thread). Do you have some kind of beef with him? Is he not picking your son?

Ha! Ha!

Not at all just think that this forum needs to discuss issues of importance.

I think the referess have a difficult job to do each week

Agree Alan 100%, this is reflected in his No being sent to the stands this season 2-0 to Margate.

Wrong as Usual Ian, he was not sent to the stands, he was standing in Physio room :D

Plus only the once still miles behind the number of times your fat manager has been sent off!

Still Alan do you not agree that once is too much.

Does that et a good example to the squad.

I am not sure ?

Not really Steve because the once he was sent off, according to local paper, it wasn't him who said anything to the linesman ;)

I just think Iain is passionate about the game and only lets rip when we can all see the officials got it wrong!

He will have to moderate a bit when the dug out is in front of the main stand.

I was under the impression that the FA had issued a directive of some sort a couple of years ago about constant bad language being used by players and officials but only a couple of refs have seemed to asked to the players to calm it down. Yes when in a game you should show passion BUT this can be done without the constant stream of swearing. As has already been said the fans have to tolerate what they say.

Out of interest were the fans subjected to this situation by Alma Hall from the sidelines or Eddie Clayton or Bob Harrop on the pitch???

There have been several times already this season when both dugouts have been letting rip at the officials and I have wondered what was going to happen at the half time or full time break when they left the field.

Personally I would like to see players spoken to at the start of the match about the language, warned on the first time they went over the top and booked the second time, it may then make them think before subjecting the crowd to a flood of foul language.

And dont give me that rot about it being a mans game and having to accept it.

Unfortunately bad language seems to be the norm these days in all areas of life, and not just football. I certainly wouldn't want to take my grandson to a match if all he would hear is a load of men F-ing and blinding for ninety minutes because they think they have a god given right to do so. It must therefore have a detrimental impact on attendances and revenue for clubs at a time when every penny counts.

Good luck to Margate if you are serious about stamping out this problem, and hopefully you can become standard bearers for all other clubs that have this problem.

Completely agree with you..players and managers sahould be warned before the games and they should know the boundaries and their should be clear set punishments for the amount of times they cross those boundaries..

Look at rugby, the players and managers have so much respect for the officials

I had to reply to the mention of Bob Harrop earlier in this thread. Did he abuse officials ...........oh yes and he was very funny with it. I remember as clear as yesterday a reserve game somewhere in the 80s when the passionate old man of the side, after flattening some poor upstart, shouted to the unfortunate referee in a bellowing voice

I never f ...ing touched him, you c....t

You could have heard it in Ramsgate. He did not take prisoners, did Bob

What a true MFC legend

And as for abusing officials, it has always been and always will be part of the game. Good thread though..

PS I very excited, thanks to the draw today I going to be able to attend my first MFC game for 7 years on the 30th - can't wait. The exile up North has never dulled my passion for my team
