Michael McIntyre

Recommended Posts

For those of you who don't know him, and it would be no surprise if you didn't, Michael McIntyre is currently Britain's top 'comic', I use the term loosely as I don't find him the slightest bit funny and wouldn't crack a smile at any of his jokes which are as old as the hills. Whatever happened to classic stand up comedians such as Tommy Cooper, Ken Dodd, Jimmy Tarbuck, Bob Monkhouse, Dave Allen, Les Dawson and Jasper Carrott, who millions used to watch on a Saturday night whilst rolling around their living room floors.

I remember my Dad saying the same of Jasper Carrot, Billy Connolly and Dave Allen, just didn't get them, preferred George Formby I expect. Classic stuff Rhodes, I know people will think your just a miserable old bugger and I'm sure you'll feel aggrieved since only two out of the three are probably accurate.

Rhodes makes me laugh, but like Michael McIntyre not much of a comedian. The above list is OK apart from Tarbuck and Les Dawson who I think are about as funny as a funeral.

Some decent names to add to the list could be Steve Martin, Peter Sellers, the very clever Pam Ayres, Jo Brand, Harry Hill, and the funniest of them all, Norman Wisdom.

Funniest TV programme ever has to be Dads Army.

Steve Martin was good in Planes, Trains and Automobiles, where he made his name, but very little else. Pam Ayres was clever as you rightly say but nobody ever took her seriously did they.

What about "Will you be around later Arthur for your usual?". I suppose to be fair to the hopeless Michael McIntyre he was always going to be on a hiding to nothing.

I see that, incredibly, Michael McIntyre will join David 'the Hoff' Hasselhoff as a Judge on next year's Britain's Got Talent along with sexy Amanda Holden, that is likely to more than halve the viewing figures overnight. McIntyre said 'i'm a massive fan of Britain's Got Talent and am extremely excited to be a Judge, I was so thrilled when Simon Cowell asked me. McIntyre landed the 500k one year deal after ITV bosses were surprisingly impressed with his wit on his stand up tours and BBC1 shows 'Live at the Apollo, his deal with ITV is 'non exclusive' so he is able to accept the lucrative assignment.

I take it from the above that you do approve of "the Hoff" then? It goes without saying that you approve of the "sexy" Amanda, as she's a woman, and an attractive one at that.

Horace - I know you have a soft spot for Amanda Holden as you've mentioned her before in passing. I think it's her, and her alone, who holds 'Britain's Got Talent' together as the show has been on the verge of going stale and, even though I'm her biggest fan, has never recovered from having Kelly Brook on.

You won't be surprised to hear that I don't watch Britain's Got Talent, or that I had no idea the delicious Amanda was a judge. I DID use to watch a show called The Grimleys though, with Noddy Holder and Amanda starring as teachers in a West Midlands comprehensive. Amanda was "Miss Titley" and must have had boys of all ages fantasising about being kept behind after school!

A selection of "real" women got me going in the 70's - not images on a TV screen!
