From Hornchurch Fans Forum - thank you 'Urchins'

Looks like a good result for the reserves as Hornchurch has a strong team out including Mooro and Risley.

I guess we were spoilt by last week's performance at Gravesend but we weren't quite up to it this evening.

The game followed the same lines as last week - 0-0 at half time and the opposition scoring in almost the exact same minute - but Billericay were that much stronger and we could not reply.

The goal came 11 minutes into the second half, Anthony Parkes driving home into the roof of the net after Simon Raynor failed to hold onto his initial effort, but despite having much of the possession we couldn't create many chances. A couple came our way towards the end, Barrie Fox stretching but missing a ball dragged across the six yard area, and a run and shot from Andy Findlay being well saved, but we couldn't salvage anything this time.

Line-up:- Raynor, Sorhaindo, Rowland (Fields 60), Risley, Moore, Locke (Neville 5), Cripps (Bradley 45), Cowley, Nwokeji, Findlay, Fox. Subs not used:- Kite, Collier (GK).

And for the Billericay supporters who may visit here their line-up was as follows:-

Jackson, Jones, Kennett, Palmer, Birkett, Wigington, Hurns, Aziz, Vile, Deakin, Hobden. Subs:- Swindells, Parkes, Waghorn, Kamara, Harris. (Sorry I didn't note the substitutions)

Congratulations to Tony Cross and his team last night on an overall good performance in very tricky conditions with most of the 1st half played in heavy rain.

I thought that Billericay had the better of the play against a Hornchurch team which had a few players with 1st team experience playing. In the Hornchurch team was ex-Billericay favourite Chris Moore who seems to be out of favour currently. A return to New Lodge for Chris Moore?.

Billericay scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes into the second half and then soaked up some good pressure from Hornchurch looking for an equaliser with a strong defensive display.

I am now totally deaf as I was sitting in the stand close to George Borg and Gary Calder who were issuing instructions from the stand.

A good result for the reserves in front of a crowd of 50+ people, hopefully this success will rub off on the 1st team and bring us 3 points on Saturday at home to Carshalton.

The reserves are at home next Wednesday to Dagenham in the Capital League which should be a good test so come on down to New lodge and give your support to Tony Cross Team.

Regards,

Yep, players that I understand were also included in the team that beat Clapton(Ryman Two), narrowly lost to Witham(Ryman Two) and beat Hornchurch with seven first teamers in their side. I also believe included alongside them were four seventeen year olds. At least the club is trying to bring in quality youngsters and looking to the future, good luck to them.
