EAST THURROCK UNITED V AFC HORNCHURCH

Hornchurchmade several changes from Saturday. Billy Coyne and Michael Spencer were replaced by Greg Enstone, who came into the starting line up for the first time, and Frankie Curley, whilst Ronnie Fletcher came back in place of Rickie Hayles. With an England match on Sky TV, the crowd was only 82, the majority of whom were supporting Hornchurch.

Rocks started well, when Lee Hodges floated over a free kick which was headed away by Ronnie Fletcher, but Hornchurch very quickly took command. Greg Enstone overlapped to take a pass from Tambeson Eyong and he played the ball inside to Ross Wall, who sent Tommy Black clear on the wing. Black came in at speed and his goal bound shot was turned around the post by Richard Wray, for the first of many excellent saves. Black’s corner was fielded by Wray and at the other end a Hodges corner was headed away by Dave McSweeney. Tambeson Eyong made a rapid run down the right but delayed a fraction too long and his shot was blocked. Eyong was causing havoc on the right and was brought down on more than one occasion as his speed left defenders trailing. Eyong and Curley both had shots blocked, and the ball rebounded to Ross Wall, whose first time shot went inches wide of the post.

Rocks had another corner cleared, this time by Elliot Styles, and then Hornchurch lost Jordan Collins to injury, and he limped off to be replaced by Mitchell Stuart-Evans, who has been missing through suspension for the last five weeks. Mitchell played at left back as a direct replacement, and his touch came when he cleared another Rocks’ corner. Curley and Wall combined well and Ross put in a good shot which Wray tipped around the post. From Black’s corner, Eyong hit his shot hard at goal and Wray saved again. Eyong was then brought down in full flight – this seems to happen in every match – and Tommy Black fired the free kick just inches wide of the post. Bobby Smith punched away a corner, and Frankie Curley played the ball up to Martin Tuohy who flicked on to Ross Wall. Ross carried on and his shot cannoned off a defender. Bobby Smith held on to a long range shot from Kye Ruel, and Hakeem Araba headed wide just before the interval.

Hornchurch piled on the pressure in the second half but were again thwarted by Richard Wray, who was in excellent form. Wray caught an inswinging Tommy Black corner, and when Ross Wall was replaced by Lewis Smith, Lewis made an immediate impact by opening up the defence, but he hit his shot wide of the goal. With Lewis Smith and Tommy Black seemingly going through the defence at will, goals looked imminent but they simply would not come. Mitchell Stuart-Evans fed the ball through to Frankie Curley whose shot charged down, and Greg Enstone followed up to hammer the ball goalwards. It rebounded off a defender and back to Greg,

whose follow up shot met the same fate. Tommy black then took a pass in midfield and weaved his way through from the half way line, and whilst his shot deserved a goal, it was once again Richard Wray who saved the Rocks with yet another magnificent save. Lewis Smith was said to be nursing an injury but it

certainly did not affect his performance, and when he broke through the centre he was brought down. Frankie Curley lurked close to the free kick, but it was TOMMY BLACK who stepped up to hammer the ball home to put Hornchurch in front.

Rocks replied within a minute. A free kick near the touchline was floated into the goalmouth, Bobby Smith appeared to catch the ball, but it carried on and STEVE SHEEHAN headed home. Steve Sheehan is the son of physio Michelle Sheehan, and he played one match for Hornchurch earlier this season, in the Capital League

at Thurrock.

Lewis Smith almost restored the lead inside thirty seconds, but Richard Wray made his now expected magnificent save, and Wray then repeated the act when Tommy Black followed up, and Wray dived to tip the ball around the post for a corner. Black, Smith and Black yet again, and three more good saves, but Hornchurch

thought they had scored when Frankie Curley sent a low cross in from the wing and Martin Tuohy neatly glided it into the net, but offside was given.

Soz Yao came on for Tambeson Eyong, who had been subject to some harsh treatment on the wing, Martin Tuohy went close after Black and Lewis Smith had again combined. A spectacular Tommy Black solo run took his past several defenders, but yet again it was Richard Wray in the way, diving to turn the shot around the post. Bobby Smith fielded a Rocks corner, then Lewis Smith played a pass to Tommy Black, whose shot was deflected around the post, but not by the hand of Richard Wray, but the loud penalty appeals were ignored. A Frankie Curley shot was parried to Soz Yao, whose follow up shot was saved by Richard Wray. Tommy Black looked likely to score two minutes from the end of extra time, but he was scythed down by a mistimed tackle from Steve Harrison, who received his second yellow card of the night, and two yellows equal one red. Tommy Black took the free kick and Richard Wray predictably made his by now mandatory excellent save.

On topenalties – Rocks won the toss and went first.

Hakeem Araba stepped up to fire home in confident fashion, and Soz Yao then levelled for Hornchurch.

Kris Newby hammered Rocks back in front and Tommy Black neatly slotted home to bring the score back level.

Kye Ruel put Rocks back ahead, and Lewis Smith replied confidently to make it 3-3.

Joe Keith made it 4-3 and then Richard Wray saved from Greg Enstone, diving to the left to grab the ball.Connor

Mead was the fifth penalty taker, and he made no mistake and at 10.27pm Rocks were through.

P.S. we had a bigger crowd than you midweek but then I suppose you noticed that!

Hey dogger nice to see you are still spewing out your bullshit. You didn't by chance have family churning out Germanic right wing propaganda in the 30's did you?

Well done on finally having a higher crowd than us this midweek,at last you have beaten us at something,it took a long time but you done it,well done.

Of course,it helps that our crowd was 0 as we didn't have a home game but i won't let that spoil your immense pride at the moment.

cheesy%20%282%29.gif Perhaps he is trying on a Grays shirt as he's gone through more Essex clubs than Jodie Marsh.

As for the report, I'm not sure what's worse, his ballcocks or your gobbledygook. Is that a euphemism for a Vietnamese hooker?

I'm with Sid on this one...read the reports on your errr colourful :brille008: website.
