After last nights defeat can anybody tell me when was the last time Margate won a Trophey ?

Are you like me and the other 108 people who attended last night. Dont you think it would be nice to win a Trophey of any kind instead of hearing prior to kick off that the manager was not too bothered whether we progressed through to the next round or not.

Being a Dagenham fan who attended the Wembley play off final last season surely that is proof that hard work and ambition can lead to success. You must all remember that not long ago both clubs were playing in the conference. But i cannot remember once John Still making such negative comments about any competitive match.

I personally would like to see Margate win anything, then perhaps that may attract a bigger fan base which i am sure is out there but just needs waking up.

I think that we have the players to make a decent challenge for promotion this season but lets hope the manager believes it too !!

I supported Dagenham as i lived there. 7 years ago i moved to Margate so i follow them now. I am a season ticket holer too. i still go to see Dagenham at least 3 or 4 times a season.

And of course that's often true of the Carling Cup which has European qulification as an incentive.

As to what have we won: http://www.margate-fc.com/content/Club/History/club_honours.php

i have a question for the Coffin Ender is one or half a game sufficient to blood youngsters?

If so please explain?

Some will be deflated as manager has stated that they did not take the chance to shine last night.

On positive was Courtney Robinson.. A star in the making

It is a difficult one. i'm reminded of Damned United. Does the Manager put out his best team to try and win everything to satisfy the fans. If so how do others get a run out and try their luck.

On reflection you could argue as non of the players have played together in a competitive match, they probably had no chance of winning the match. But i do believe this is the right opportunity for the fringe players to have a look in....

Of course it is a good opportunity for the reserves to get a game but to say the fans dont care so why should the manager seems negative.

Oh and look what happened to Brian Clough!!

I think all players that participated last night gave 100% and i enjoyed it very much. So i will continue to look for the positives.

One thing showed last night and that was the no show of Wayne Wilson, you would've thought that he would take control of things especially as he needs to prove a thing or two to the manager. Well done to Courtney and Alex for their performances.

I do sometimes wish that TWATS (yes TWAT) like you did not turn up and destroy players with your inane stupid comments.

(oh forgot you never go into the bar to talk to players after the game as it is beneath you)

No wonder players do not perform with the likes of you around.

Do you know the managers and assitant managers instructions to the player.

Worse armchair critic to write gobbledegook on this forum you are DEREK (so bad you have to have your name in capitals)

No wonder I do not read it or comment on it anymore.

Will await this post being deleted now as I have dared to be critical to one of the Hartsdown moron brigade.

A condition of league membership as all sanctioned competitions are - Carling cup, Southern League Cup etc.

I similarly would like to see us progress alot further in cup games.

Its ok 'dismissing' the league cup, but if we get defeated saturday-thats two cup exits in a week-and that is demoralising all around.

Difficult job for the manager to get the sqaud balance right for games like league cup-i think we all accept the need to play a few fringe players-but if you lose-you only get the one chance.

Win-and you get maybe 2/3 games in the league cup to do similar-as i say -difficult for the manager to get the balance right.

However-against lower leagure opposition-its a reasonable bet that they will play a strong side-so as manager-do you similarly play a strongish side ?

Whilst many supporters similarly 'dismiss' the league cup'as an irrelevance at this time of year-its the sort of competition the club needs games in to stimulate interest in Jan/Feb-when we are sitting mid table with just one game a week, and season has effectively ended in January, interest lost, crowds dwindle further and everyone starts hoping for the next season

The FA Trophy is another competition that should be scrapped. You have to wade through a forest of unappealing fixtures before you can hope to draw a Conference team, and Conference teams, especially the ex-League clubs, have contempt for the competition, so crowds are very poor. I think Oxford United only took about 50 fans to Tonbridge the other year.

League Cup crowds before the final don't improve as the competition progresses so I don't see how it keeps interest up. However, I think the Kent Senior Cup has some value as there are far fewer teams in it, so a better chance of getting to the final, and you can be drawn against the likes of Dover or Dartford, so at least the prospect of a half-decent crowd. Though we usually seem to get dross like Chatham.
