Ash 1-2 Cove

Cove bagged a 90th minute winner from a corner, having taken the lead in the first half with a Duff goal. Bit of a scrappy game, which i think Cove just about deserved to win.

Better than watching the latest England debacle anyhow :)

Cracking game at Cobham tonight, where Mole Valley SCR and Guildford City fought out a 3-3 draw.

Guildford took a 2 goal lead inside 6 minutes, through a quick piece of thinking by Simon Cooper at a free kick, and Joel Greaves following up, after our keeper had saved a penalty (a penalty which he had conceeded).

We hit back strongly, and pulled on back through a great Jay Holden strike on about 12 minutes.

We levelled on the half hour mark with a stunning 25 yarder by Richard Smith, and took the lead a minute later, when new signing Adrian Butler fired home.

Guildford levelled on the stroke of half time, again through Greaves.

Second half saw more chances to both sides, Holden firing a free kick well wide, and Butler missing when one-on-one with the keeper (although to be fair, the keeper did well). At the other end Guiney made a couple of great saves, and some desperate defending saw us clear a couple off the line.

Happy with the point, considering we were 2 down early on.

Interesting point made on the Horley website about our game last night, suggesting we refused to change kit as there was a clash. The colours Horley have down are claret shirts, shorts and socks. We have an away kit of all sky blue, so opted to wear that. It then transpires that the Horley shirts are basically sky blue, with a flash of claret, and this would obviously create a problem. They asked us if we had a spare and , to be fair, we did not - I cannot imagine many clubs would take a spare kit to an away game! They managed to find some yellow shirts and suggested that we wear them, but the referee pointed out that the team sheet supplied clearly stated claret shirts and this was not the case, so told Horley they must change, so we had no say in the matter. This scenario was similar to when Dorking came to us and their shirts, although green and white stripes at the front, are basically all white at the back in order to facilitate the numbers. This clashed and, as we were at home , we changed shirts in the second half to accomodate. It makes perfect sense to do this , but in the case of last night it was really down to Horley anyway, as their shirts are clearly predominately sky blue. Not an issue really, but something to consider for anyone going there who may have a potential clash.

Molesey FINALLY got a league win away from home!

Really comfortable evening for the Moles in the end and Horley never really looked in it

ELF MOLE & MANAGER50 AFTER SATURDAY'S DEBACLE WHAT WAS LAST NIGHT'S REF LIKE ?

I thought the ref was decent, a lot better than Saturday!

He gave what seemed to be a soft penalty to Horley and maybe sometimes blew for freekicks a bit too much but overal I didn't really notice him... Which is surely to the referees credit!
