Not a message to the posters that post on here, but a message to the C.C.L. Committee,Teffers were you at the Moatside today NO,so how you can trot out the same old guff about Players ability, confounds me,as for we get the level of Officials we deserve, that is a ludicrous statement.Example today player goes down with nasty ankle injury,Molesey player kicks ball out, stretcher is bought on by myself, when the game restarts,Epsom player takes throw in,back to Molesey keeper,Ref blows for foul throw, maybe it was but after 10 mins stoppage does anyome care about how the ball gets back, more worried about the Player for Christ sake.Molesey played all the Football in this game, the first Penalty was a soft one,the second ,I ask anyone in the ground, beside the Ref, to say what it was for,but to then brandish Red,was an utter disgrace. The blame lies at the door of the C.C.L./F.A.,Referees Sec,you are fast tracking these youngsters, who when things do not go right ,PANIC,CARDS GO FLASHING,WHEN THEY ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE MADE GLARING ERRORS.But like all things to do with the F.A,ITS THE PLAYERS AND CLUBS THAT HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR THEIR GLARING ERRORS,mark him low you have to pay for a hearing,I believe.Be Proud of yourself Mr O'Shea you earnt the Surrey F.A. I could not agree more with your summarisation of the game today. I think sometimes fans of teams become a touch biased (it is natural) about decisions against their teams but today as a pure neutral and fan of non league football it was disgraceful.

There is no question molesey were robbed of 3 points and their fans, management and players have every right to be angry with the standard of refereeing. If there was indeed league officials at the game today then surely the red card against the molesey player must be scrubbed out, I sure having listened to comments from various Epsom officials at the game, they would support any appeal.

From what I've heard, the guy who went down said Moses never touched him,so he took a dive, should have been sent off,we lose 2 points and a player with 3 game ban.All this after a disallowed goal at Wembley, which video shows was good.4 points lost from really bad decisions.Something must be done about the standard of refs.Sorry I don't mean the player dived,he slipped.

Really pissed off.Rant over.

We were saying how well the ref was doing first half.Totally lost it second half

My two pence for what it's worth....

Sometimes it's all too easy to 'blame' the referee, i feel.

Playing devils advocate here - did Molesey have other chances during the game that meant Epsom's 2nd penalty would not have made any difference?? Granted, the ref might have given a strange decision and in some/everyone's eyes it was a mistake but did Molesey's strikers/midfielders/defenders miss good chances to score to make it 3-1/4-1 etc before that incident took place? I have said many times during a game "How the hell did the ref give that" but that has more than been equalled by me saying "How the hell did so and so miss that chance".

There was an incident in our game yesterday that again proved my point, to me anyway, although it didn't seem it at the time. We battered our opposition for majority of game but couldn't stick the ball in the back of the net, missing some sitters, whether that be strikers or defenders. We finally got the goal with about 10 mins to go so had a bit of pressure to see out. Few mins later we broke through and our striker was brought down in the area right on the penalty spot just as he was about to pull trigger. In my eyes and many others it was a blatant penalty and straight red, plus chance for us to seal game. But the ref didn't give it and in my eyes he bottled the decision. Whilst we still went on to see the game out and claim the 3 points, if the oppo had equalised we would only have had ourselves to blame for not taking various chances we created.

Looking back I don't think I have 'blamed' a referee for any of our results this season, and rightly so as it's my players I look at first. If you take the whole match in to context and analyse it, most of the time, the referee won't have THAT much impact on your team's result. Maybe TRS can post a whole game on here to watch one day and see what we think!

I grant you that referee's might make some 'strange' decisions and i'm sure the officials on here might agree when they watch fellow officials but it's all down to that officials 'opinion'. Like i've always said before, officials won't make as many mistakes as players throughout a game of football but it's always the officials that are the easiest to blame i'm afraid.

We're gonna lose on Tuesday to a 95th min penalty that only the ref sees aren't we??!!! :492:

Whilst I have sympathy with Molesey and their issues with the ref yesterday as El Gaff said a lot of people made mistakes yesterday.

1. Our ref assisted draw and the hoo hah at the end should not disguise quite how pitifully poor our performance was and this must improve . I dread to think what a half decent side would have done to us yesterday. Borgys saves and Moleseys misses kept the game close enough to be affected by the ref. There is a real double standard here in that both mistakes were worth 1 goal but I did not see the Molesey manager having to be restrained from getting at the guy who missed the header in the first half that most people in the ground could have scored.

2. Re the refereeing , it was interesting that Steve Earl who we regularly have in the middle and usually has a decent game was on the line and the young man was in the middle . The first penalty probably was and similar to one we got against Bookham last year wheer a cross went over everyone but there was an unnecessary push. If you don't want to give a penalty away don't push people . Still everyone can blame the ref and no-one can use the opportunity to talk to a defender about reading a situation better and improving their decisions and judgement .

The second penalty was a shocker and whilst at quite close quarters behind the goal I was as surprised as anyone . I'm quite openly biased and happy to shout for anything that might be a pen we didn't and no-one claimed it so I'm glad you withdrew dived Moleskin. Still the ref gave what he saw but if I had been in his position of giving a penalty that was marginal at best (and refs must have some sense of what's stonewall and whats marginal ) I would have not set light to the petrol by sending the lad off. To be fair to him the lad sent off reacted quite well and was not raging and credit to him.

We've all had days when decisions have gone against us and we've lost our rags but I have to say the level of dissent from both sides during the game was too much . This included our captain who had to be subbed during the game to prevent him being sent off for dissent - fine example . I'd be interested to hear from the refs about this but I believe they are more likely to make poor decisions if people are constantly on at them -or people have just sworn at them as for the free kick which immediatrely preceded the second penalty .So sometimes players and managers and supporters have to think whether they've created the atmosphere that's made a poor decision more likely

So lots of mistakes and I know the Molesey manager regrets his reaction and I think his team did a wise thing in staying out for a warm down and having some cooling off time. That's as bad as we'll ever play and get anything out of the game and the challenge for me is to remember the luck we had yesterday the next time we get a bad decsion- oh and to play a bit better too.

I always said I would give something back to the game when I retired from playing and decided to do my Referee qualification. I am beginning to regret it now. I have done a few matches now and could have done a lot more if I had wanted to but why should I? I feel guilty that there are Sunday league and Saturday matches out there with no referees but based on the minorities attitude towards officials you can understand why. Everytime you drive an excellant referee out of the game like Krooner his position has to be replaced by someone normally thru promotion. The referee is not to blame for your teams poor or erratic performances. It is you as managers or as players whom are to blame. I have watched several matches at CCL this year and can honestly say I have only seen on below average performance by the officials.

Question for all of you.

What is the difference between premiership players and CCL players?

This wiil help each of you to understand the difference between CCL refs and Premiership refs.

We all make mistakes whether it is Team Selection, Formations, missed a sitter, poor defending and bad tackles. After each one of those happens, do you as managers or players get screamed and sworn at by your chairman or manager? I doubt it.

Becoming a referee has given me a totally different perspective on their role and I respect them more than ever in my career. Try it for yourselves before criticising.

Good on you SL. No one could tell you before you took the course just what a pig of job it is to Referee., especially when most players / managers don't even know the rules.

I doub't there was one game yesterday, the Molesey match included, where the Ref made more mistakes than any individual manager, player or coach. But it's all the Refs fault they lose of course.

Surely a message to the CCL should not be posted here? Perhaps a letter with your CV to Alan Constable might get you the thankless tasks of appointing referees in the CCL.

If a player makes too many mistakes that he is accountable for, he would get benched as punishment and expected to work harder in training and to better himself to not make those errors again!

I think the biggest problem is that when a ref does make a boo boo, it is highlighted much more if the opposition score through his mistake!

I would prefer a team to score against my team through skill rather than a hand out from the ref. On another note..... managers get the sack because of mistakes by the referees and players. The manager has control over that player and can bench him or release him. The manager has no control over the referee!

No one or team likes to lose but it is even harder to swallow if a referee makes awful mistakes that cost you all the hard work, preparation during the week, and effort on match days!

Refs do have a hard job and quite often a thankless job. Sometimes an incident happens, weather it be a foul, the ball going out of play, and even as a biased player i wouldnt know which way to give the throw or foul so would have to guess!

It's the obvious, easy decisions that these refs get wrong that Narks players and managers!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (or more likely out of date) but has it really much to do with League? Referees are effectively County FA trained / examined. Once they've got their badge they can apply to join a League (or more likely the League canvass them to join). The League Referees Secretary then gets to appoint them from a list of names?

How does the League make our Ref bad? The League hasn't trained him, the League cannot make him better or worse than he is - the League can only use him or not use him

EEFC I LIKE YOU 'COS YOU'RE HONEST IN YOUR ASSUMPTION OF E & E MATCHES INCLUDING THE ABOVE. BUT YOUR COMMENT THAT ''I DREAD TO THINK WHAT A HALF DECENT SIDE WOULD HAVE DONE TO US '' IS A DETRIMENT TO THE YOUNG MOLESEY SIDE, 'COS I'M TELLING YOU MOLESEY WERE DECENT INFACT FAR TOO GOOD FOR E & E YESTERDAY.

I ALSO WATCHED YESTERDAY AND WHAT A GOOD GAME OF FOOTBALL ON A DECENT PITCH IT HAS TO BE SAID, ESPECIALLY MOLESEY WHO WERE EXCELLENT IN THE 1ST HALF AND NOT MUCH DIFFERENT IN THE 2ND.

EEFC YOU CRITIZE YOUR TEAM BUT REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO GIVE CREDIT TO THE OPPOSITION TO WHOM MOLESEY WERE FAR SUPERIOR, DULY ACKNOWLEDGED BY THE HONEST E & E FOLK/SUPPORTERS AND TO HEAR COMMENTS THAT WE GOT OUT OF JAIL , WE NICKED A POINT THANKS TO THE REFEREE SAYS IT ALL.

I SPOKE TO ALOT OF PEOPLE AT THE GAME YESTERDAY AND WISH I KNEW WHO YOU WERE SMUDGE NEVERTHELESS, I DO KNOW NOW AFTER SEEING YOU CARRYING THE STRETCHER ! AFTER READING COMMENTS FROM THIS POST AND THE OTHER THREAD UNDER ELLERS ''SATURDAYS RESULTS'' IT'S VERY EVIDENT THAT MOLESEY WERE ''CHEATED'' OUT OF 3 WELL EARNED POINTS.

TO MY RECOLLECTION I THINK THE MOLESEY 'KEEPER HAD ONLY 1 SAVE TO MAKE AND FROM MY ANGLE IT WAS GOING WIDE ANYWAY. MOLESEYS FOOTBALL WAS SUBLIME AND TO BE HONEST IT'S PROBABLY THE BEST DISPLAY I'VE SEEN SO FAR THIS SEASON, AND TO SAY THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN 3 MAYBE EVEN 4 UP BY HALF TIME IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT, ONLY THANKS TO THE EXCELLENT E & E GOALKEEPER WHO THWARTED MOLESEY ALL AFTERNOON. MOLESEY ARE A YOUNG, VERY QUICK & TALENTED MAKING THE

E & E DEFENCE LOOK VERY SLOW AND VERY ORDINARY. TO THE CONTRARY, MOLESEY'S DEFENCE LOOKED DOMINANT AND IN TOTAL CONTROL HENCE THEIR KEEPER HAVING NOTHING TO DO.

FROM A STANDING NEUTRAL , WHAT A SHAME THAT ALL THE TALK HAS TO BE ABOUT THE REF WHO IN MY OPINION HAD A GOOD 1ST HALF AND NOT ABOUT THE GOOD FOOTBALLING GAME ON SHOW. YES E & E WERE BATTERED BUT THEY HUNG ON IN THERE MOSTLY BECAUSE MOLESEY COULDN'T KILL THE GAME OFF WITH THEIR CHANCES, ALBEIT THE GOOD KEEPING IN THE E & E GOAL.

NOW ''THE'' INCIDENT. I WAS BEHIND THE MOLESEY GOAL BANG IN FRONT OF THE 2 PENALTY DECISIONS. THE 1ST ALTHO' VERY SOFT I CAN SEE WHY THE REF GAVE IT BUT ON ANOTHER DAY IT WOULDN'T BE GIVEN. THE SUPPOSED PUSH WAS SO SLIGHT YET THE E&E NO. 9 MADE THE MOST OF IT AND MUGGED THE REF. FAIR PLAY TO HIM.

THE SECOND PEN WAS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE SORRY. IT WAS ABOUT 2 YDS DEAD IN FRONT OF ME AND I'M TELLING YOU ALL THE E & E NO. 9 AGAIN ''SLIPPED'' IN A MELEE OF PLAYERS ALL IN THE 6 YARD BOX. THE E&E PLAYER WENT DOWN WHERE THE REF ADJUDGED THE MOLESEY NO. 5 TO HAVE PUSHED HIM - PENALTY GIVEN - ABSOLUTE RUBBISH ! NOW TO ADD SALT IN THE WOUND, THE REF SENT THE MOLESEY NO. 5 OFF ! HOW THE HELL CAN HE SEND A PLAYER OFF IF THERE WERE SO MANY PLAYERS IN THE 6YD BOX - WHAT WAS THE MOLESEY NO. 5 THE LAST MAN OR SOMETHING !! - ABSOLUTE DISGRACEFUL DECISION AND TO BE HONEST I FELT FOR MOLESEY WHO REALLY DESERVED TO WIN THE GAME. BUT THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS REF'S ARE HUMAN ''BUT'' IN MY OPINION THE GAME WAS TOO BIG FOR THE 19YR OLD TO WHOM I UNDERSTAND HAS BEEN FAST TRACKED THRU THE SYSTEM . NOW I'M NOT AGAINST THIS BUT THE REF, SECRETARY HAS THE OBLIGATION OF ''SELECTING'' THE RIGHT MATCHES FOR THESE YOUNG REFS, BUT I AM NOT SO NAIVE TO KNOW THAT IT'S EASIER SAID THAN DONE, BUT MAYBE A BIT OF THOUGHT SHOULD GO BEHIND IT.

ANYWAY, MANAGER50 DID SHOW THE YOUNG REF HIS DISCONTENT AFTER THE GAME WHICH WAS SOMEWHAT CONCERNING AND PROBABLY JUST IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT, BUT CREDIT TO THE MOLESEY PLAYERS AS THEY WENT OFF TO SALUTE THEIR DISGRUNTLED SUPPORTERS (RIGHTLY SO) WHO SUBSEQUENTLY WARMED DOWN.

WHILST STANDING BY THE PLAYERS ENTRANCE LISTENING TO ALL SORTS OF DISCUSSIONS GOING ON, ABOUT THE EVENTS OF THE GAME, IT'S FUNNY THO' AS I OVERHEARD THE EITHER MOLESEY COACH OR ASSISTANT MANAGER (SMALL GUY WITH GLASSES) SAYING TO HIS PLAYERS, DON'T BE DOWN HEARTED, WE PLAYED SOME GREAT STUFF TODAY, WE DIDN'T GET THE DECISIONS AND WE BASHED THEM UP, BUT LADS HAD WE TAKEN OUR CHANCES NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING OR EVEN MATTER ........AND SADLY FOR MOLESEY THATS A FACT - WELL DONE THAT MAN ! - BUT THANKS TO BOTH SIDES FOR AN ENTERTAINING MATCH AND A VERY ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON OUT.

Exactly the response I expected from some quarters,it is the standard of the players fault some have said, comparing Premiership with C.C.L another states. What a lot of people fail to realise is it is the Leagues fault, and I will try to explain why.If a club marks a Referee low, they have to submit papers to the League stating their reasons for doing so,this then constitutes a meeting to discuss matters, which the Club are charged for,I presume. So rather than complain Officially about the Official they give him the lowest mark possible to avoid the cost to their Club. Will Molesey and Epsom and Ewell complain,I think not,Epsom have nothing to gain from doing so,as they got a flukey point, from a Refs howler.Molesey will just be seen as poor losers, which I will say they were not.So Mr. O'Shea goes onto his next game unblemished. If they took away the cost of marking a Ref low, away, they would be meeting every week and they know it.More emphasis should be put on Teams of Officials to work together week in week out, because what we see now is a mixture of Officials who are not getting regular games, probably never met before,if you related that to your back 3,you would not be top of any tree.

Think you may need to re-read my post as it was mistakes by referees happening in either the Premiership or the CCL.

I don;t believe it's the leagues fault, if a player dives, he is at fault and his manager for not stopping him or telling him not to. Referees aren't infallible, and blindly defending them as has been done on here is about as helpful as trying to blame the players quality.

People need to realise that mistakes happen and get the hell on with it.

Fat Boy,as you have nnot posted on this thread, would hardly comment about that point.Surrey Legend mentioned Premiership and C.C.L.with which the way I read it meant because your not a Premier player, you must accept poor Officials in the C.C.L.

Not a message to the posters that post on here, but a message to the C.C.L. Committee,Teffers were you at the Moatside today NO,

Qoute from Nice Guy

THE EITHER MOLESEY COACH OR ASSISTANT MANAGER (SMALL GUY WITH GLASSES) SAYING TO HIS PLAYERS, DON'T BE DOWN HEARTED, WE PLAYED SOME GREAT STUFF TODAY, WE DIDN'T GET THE DECISIONS AND WE BASHED THEM UP, BUT LADS HAD WE TAKEN OUR CHANCES NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING OR EVEN MATTER ........AND SADLY FOR MOLESEY THATS A FACT

No Smudge I was not at The Moatside today but which part of that statement is not to the posters on here or aimed at me :waytogo:

Although we have only met once, you should know by my post that I always give an honest reply.

Do you not get tired on the constant moans the the ref cost us, personally I do, other posters have replied maybe better than I in showing why the ref is not the one who should always get the blame, SL post somes it up perfectly. The above section from Nice Guy's post also goes to prove my point.

Fine by all accounts the ref made errors that have cost Molesey and hopefully this will be redressed if/when he is assessed. You as a retired ref who stepped in the other week should understand how difficult it is to alway make the correct decision in eveyones eyes, the ref will see things from different angles to supporters and I'm sure he still believes that he saw enough of an infrigement to justify those penalties even if the E&E player made the most of it.

The CCL nor the refs sec. are not to blame, the blame lies with the clubs who allow there players, manager ect to lambast the officials, who think why should I take this [censored] and give up, thus the less experienced officials are then fast tracked to fill the void.

Also the clubs do not have to go to a hearing or pay for anything if they have marked the officials low than (From memory) 40/100 some one will correct me if thats wrong, They do have to write in in a constructive manner on where the official needs improving and can only raise a decision he's made in an explaination to improve his performance, you cannot write in a complain about a decision he's made on the field of play the referees decision is final.

Smudge surely if you put your glasses on and not the rose tinted ones you could re-reaed my comment.

Premier League get the best players and Referees. Then the standards will decrease as you go down the leagues in both. You are expecting a referee to be of the standard of the guys you see on TV. Well are the players in the CCL of the Premier league level. NO!!!

Fat Boy,as you have nnot posted on this thread, would hardly comment about that point.Surrey Legend mentioned Premiership and C.C.L.with which the way I read it meant because your not a Premier player, you must accept poor Officials in the C.C.L.

Apologies then, I thought you were talking about my response in the Results to Teflon.

There was an incident in our game yesterday that again proved my point, to me anyway although it didn't seem it at the time. We battered our opposition for majority of game but couldn't stick the ball in the back of the net, missing some sitters, whether that be strikers and defenders. Whilst we still went on to see the game out and claim the 3 points, if the oppo had equalised we would only have had ourselves to blame for not have taken various chances we created.

I grant you that referee's might make some 'strange' decisions and i'm sure the officials on here might agree when they watch fellow officials but it's all down the that officials 'opinion'.

Hi Nice Guy,

I had no intention of being detrimental to Molesey and probably should have added the word finishing to my comment about half decent. You should have introduced yourself to me as you seem to have been standing quite close to me for the two penalty incidents. I'm always behind the goal Epsom are attacking and my pictures on my programme column (Steve Dyke) .

It seems we are agreed on most aspects of what happened in the game (but you alwayslike to find a little angle with people on here- just in case you get a bite) and on the day I'm sure you will find I was one of those fair minded folk making those comments about getting out of jail and not deserving what we got because everyone could see what happened in the match.

I also commented about our team because something wasn't right yesterday and Moleseys dominance was a result both of their good play and something not right about ours i.e the lack of closing down or marking on their first and the lack of creativity to make many chances.

There is a wider issue though about the refereeing and reactions linking it with Krooners post . Throughout the season I have become more aware of the atmospheres that games are conducted in and in this league they are often poor . The respect campaign seems to have died the death but if refs of the experience and common sense of Krooner are thinking they've had enough then we're going to have problems and we've all got to think about how we react to things.

I know he's been widely discussed but I hope the young ref involved will learn from a bad day at the office not dwell too much on the grief he got and go on to a good refereeing career, because all of us in many walks of life make mistakes.(one of my biggest in the past has been being on referees cases too much)
