MORE EFM MEDIA COVERAGE

Recommended Posts

no.

I'm not implying that.

I agree that "EFM" start most of the songs, I agee that "EFM" support the club with a passion. But on Saturday there were people slow hand clapping the team who I am under the impression are part of "EFM". Now I might be wrong but slow clapping your team is not really supportive is it?

I seem to remember the singing started when we equalised and very good it was too.

Wouldn't it be nice though if everyone behind the goal felt they could join in or would that make them part of "EFM" with a risk of a ban if someone stood out of line???????

I think you'd risk a ban. The chairman doesn't appreciate vocal support.

But in seriousness, I wish more people would sing. I'd love to hear "Do They Know It's Christmas" being sung by 400 passionate supporters. It would bring a tear to my eye!!

How about a rendition of that next Tuesday at Canvey then?

Ho hum. Here we go again. I think we may be getting two issues confused here. Firstly, I didn't read the message in the prgramme last Saturday as a threat to ban anybody connected with EFM. The chairman has the right to ban whomever he likes. I think we should save any further debate on the rights and wrongs of that until such a time that it is appropriate. Personally, as most of you will know, I've never had any problems with him. But that's just me. We've had a discussion on here about the semantics of banning "EFM", and who this may or may not apply to, so I think it's pointless going back over that territory.

What I will say, however, is this. All of the reports that I have heard about last Saturday seem to indicate that it was an abject performance. Whether I'm EFM or not, no matter who I choose to go to matches with, no matter what, if the players deserve that slow handclap, then they should get it. We've had the debate on here before over whether £8 is too much to charge as an admission fee. If I pay it - if the club takes that money - then I have a right to express my opinion towards in whatever way I see fit, so long as it isn't offensive, racially abusive, violent or disruptive towards the game going on at the time.

Maybe there is an assumption that I have NOTHING better to do with my time than go to Clarence Park. Well... I, and everybody else on this board, does have a life away from the club. Much as I love City and will continue to support them, all I seem to be hearing at the moment is vague threats of banning towards unspecific people and groups for unspecific reasons. Would EFMTFTV and Zeal get banned for slow handclapping? If so, he may as well ban everybody in the Cola Stand, because all they ever do is grumble and complain!

I'll come back to a point I made in an earlier thread. Non-league crowds below the Conference are in freefall. The influx of families into Clajrence Park has, largely, not happened. Regardless of EFM or anything else, St Albans City FC NEEDS my support at the moment. I haven't forgotten that, and now may well be an appropriate time to remind others of it as well.
