interesting night-cant believe that Sean Hillier is still at Clacton-one of the best players ive ever seen at step five, can rembering him trialling atcanvey about 7 years back. A big thank you to Sawbo for pulling a goal back which means that Basildon now need a pointat Takeley next Tuesday to top our League Cup group.

Interesting is one way of describing it..... I decided late to travel across to the Southen Manor v Eton Manor game, then got heavily held up in traffic and roadworks on the 127, and ended up arriving just before half time, in time to see Southend Manor score to go 2-0 up. People at half time were of the view that it reflected the game.

Second half Eton Manor came flying out at them, but you just felt Southend had weathered the strom when Joe May dribbled past about 4 players and slipped Neil Barratt in for 2-1. Then Eton Manor went 3 up front and chased the game, and eventually Jerry Nkrumah got to a ball just before the home keeper and rounded him to score the equaliser. Eton Manor were well on top now, and Neil Barratt headed against the bar from 1 yard out with 2 minutes to go, and from another cross a Manor forward was flattened inside the box, nothing doing according to the referee.

The first half of extra time was Eton Manor pressing, Southend looked out on their feet, and they were lucky their captain wasn't sent off when he seemed to bring a Eton forward down as the last man. The referee saw it as only a yellow card. But despite Eton's pressure Southend clung on till HT in ET. Then whatever quick words the Southend Manager said at the turn around worked, because it was they who were on top for most of the second period and when they got in down the right a low cross fell to (I think it was) Anton Dwyer (apologies if not)...... who somehow managed to drag his effort wide.

Then onto the pens....... A total of 14 taken, only half scored...... two good saves by the Eton keeper, one by the Southend keeper and a total of 2 each side blazed high enough to clear the Eiffel Tour.......

At leas there was no traffic on the way home................... A really good typically Senior League game of passion and committment and two teams giving absolutely everything. Congratulations to Eton, commiserations to Southend.
