Who are the mst unsportsmanlike team??

Recommended Posts

Having just travelled back from Thames Road after a battling but not massively inspiring performance I spent my time thinking of other things than our teams shortcomings and begun to wonder have we ever played a more unsportsman like team? If so who?

The way Concord players and their bench howled and wooped at every tackle, faked injury (aerial challenge from Collis in middle of park to get first yellow and their number 5 or 6 holding his face after an aerial battle later in game) was embarassing and really does spoil what is a physical game, making it nigh on impossible for already rubbish referees to get anything right. To then add icing on the cake a Concord player smashed the ball against Collis (who had his back to the ball retreating for a free kick) who was clearly walking a concord made tight rope, which resulted in a second yellow is just the pits of unsportsman like behaviour.

Maybe I am too naive and expect too much from the modern game, maybe we should do a Concord all the time but I personally don't want the pathetic whinings and faking injury which dog the upper tiers of this great sport.

Anyway back to my original topic title, 'Who are the most Unsportsmanlike team?".

After seeing that tonight I am opting from Concord, but I am sure others will have their own views............

Well Patriot I think you have hit the nail on the head but you failed to mention their equally pathetic supporters. How the Concord No 6 could continue to stamp on Danny Charge's ankle just isn't football, the 4 got so many warnings it was unbelievable, Referees have to show consistency.

I think I will vote with Patriot.

Speaking of Unsportsmanlike Did you notice how the miserable few of their fan's that did turn out all left before the game ended.

Between the squealing from their bench and players and the squealing from that tuppence halfpenny pa system i have a head ache (or it could be Nigel's fault to be fair)

If their is another team is as bad it must be Canvey, Maybe thats why all the crap teams are in the one dump.

Nice ground, pleasant bar staff and a great, value for money Tea Bar.

Unfortunately for their club, they have very few fans, a lairy management team that are as "chav vy" as the players that they instruct.

All very happy to dish out a bit of stick, yet dive about and appeal at every challenge.

The main problem is...... Where do they get these officials that let them get away with it??

2 weeks running now we have had a striker "rugby tackled" by the last man yet Dave Collis is sent off for 2 yellows!!!!!!

He got 1 for winning a header on the halfway line and another for an unsporting Chav blasting a ball at him!!!

Concord are a horrible team but to be honest, I do enjoy going there!!!!!

Yes, Collis was retreating when the free kick was given but he didn't have his back to the ball. If he had just let the ball hit him the ref i reckon would have given him the benefit of not being given time to retreat but he made the mistake of sticking out a foot to stop the ball which gave the ref an easy decision. Unlucky some might say but stupid also when you're already on a yellow.

I can't disagree with anything that has been said here. There is very little between either side except that whenever Concord saw an opportunity to gain an "advantage", they took it by going down. You only have to take the example that was displayed by their bench to see this is how they are coached to play the game. Craig would not want his team to sink to the that level but we have had "opportinusts" in the past...Flack, Hodges to name two. In each game, Danny had the opportunity to go down in the box but stayed on his feet...inexperience or the measure of a player that feels he doesn't have to do that?

On the other hand, we could've been a player down after two minutes!!!

Saying that (and there are always two sides of a coin), our passing and retention of the ball wasn't good at times last night. Our midfield was bossed around at times as well. We have a great back four, tight and stingy but if you're midfield doesn't hold the ball and gives it away to easily and your strikers don't score goals, then the pressure will mount and the chances of conceeding will increase. We need players to score goals to releive the pressure on our defence.

But...it is what it is. We have a team that is constrained by the budget and prolific goal scorers are as hard to come by as they are expensive and we cannot afford 'em.

It's not all doom and gloom though...when we did play the ball on the floor, we were "different gravy" and opened them up and gave them problems and looked a level above them.

I'd be interested what Craig will do with Hakeem now left as to who he will bring in.

Clearly football is all about opinions, it's what makes the game great.

I wonder what is more un-sportsmanlike, the supposition that we went out and feigned injuries/dived/moaned at the referee/whatever else has been said above, or the fact that what some of your clearly mindless supporters behind the goal were saying to our keeper was bordering on abuse, well beyond the realms of any 'banter', or the fact that what you seem to see as a 'physical game' what was in reality almost thuggish at times from your side, but hey, we both watch the game through different coloured spectacles I guess?

When you did 'play', some of the football wasn't half bad, full credit for that; but the reckless challenges were a tarnish on what was in truth not a bad game.

The players on the pitch for both sides are experienced enough to know the ref would be primed to hand out a red card at some point last night, so mournful them whoever put themselves in a position to make it happen.

Aside form that, it's nice to see you lot a bit more lively on here than the suicide notes after the FA Cup game, at least that's one positive.

Until 4/5 weeks time, all the best gents!

Totally agree about the "opinions" phrase . If we all agreed on everything then it sure would be a boring game eh !!

Personally the game imo came to life straight from the second half kick off . Seemed as though both benches had told their lads to go and win the game and it seemed to open play up nicely .

Anyway , aside from the bickering of sticks n stones and words (from both parties - (wink) it was enjoyable evening at your place . Wae played better , we did not lose , it did not rain , it was not windy , did not get spiked this time

Even played for Concord when i was 15 (i was poached honestly) !! haha, back in the day when a certain Gary Britnell was in the same team but was 17 i think, you have come a long way since then !

Come The TOWN !!!

I think the way in which Concord conduct themselves on the pitch is a little unsporting, but it works for them. Because they have so few supporters of their own, whenever possible they use the away support, and opposition team to fuel themselves. The bigger the away support, the better the opposition, the more potential energy available. Its somthing they do very well.

Dale Brightley has broard shoulders, he can handle the comments from behind his goal, water off a ducks back, anyway, Concord can dish out the abuse, so a score draw on that one I think.

mindless supporters, thuggish at times, reckless challenges....they should see us on a bad day:smilewinkgrin:

To be fair TC, you’re spot on; our home games are almost like away games at times… But I suppose that does drive us on a bit…

Point each is a fair outcome, be interesting to see how both sides approach it in a few weeks time…

After all your kind comments re: our tea bar and acceptable food prices will your caterers be undertaking a price match promise on our next visit?

Waitrose it certainly is not !

As has been said we all have varied opinions, But i think our record speaks for itself v The Mighty Ricay !

The one thing Craig has defo got right is your defence, they have been immense in all 3 games !

As for faking injury, pop down tomorrow evening and have a look at our physio trying to work magic on the boys for saturday !

And as a parting shot, you have the audacity to call our management team chavs when you have Mr Edwards running up and down behind

the dugouts like a snarling rockweiller !

Anyway good luck saturday in your league game !coffee%20(2).gif

Surely the Tonbridge side from a couple of seasons ago were far worse?

The absolute daddies tho were Braintree, pre-Borg and during Borg!
