TC why didn't you play are you injured ?

Not selected, simple as. Technically I am still on loan at Bracknell and the game I played against Cove, I was only suposed to be on the bench but Asen turned up late. There was a chance I would have played last night, but with Unders moving onto pastures new, it didn't happen. It was nice to have a night off though. First Tuesday off since the beginning of the season.

Manager 50 you are correct the post/bar incident was at the end of extra-time.I previously praised the Ref on here,as the best I had seen in C.C.L.,As Regards the handbags incident, why do 16 Players get involved, if all has occurred is a yellow card tackle, which was his solution.Similarly when is a player allowed to raise an arm and strike a player,no card received.Yes there were a couple of players one from each side who like to dish it out,not sure about receiving it though, both were involved in both incidents.but separately.Which in my opinion the Ref failed to deal with correctly.

Were all hoping dean gets the job, why change things that are not broken. Saturday will be the toughest test yet but were scoring for fun and look good defensively so were confident.

Certainly Deano and Andy has done themselves plenty of favours with the last two games and with the positive response from the players, I hope they do get the job.

I heard one name interested last night who is currently without a club and will remain nameless, and it would be a bad move if the club got him in.

Wil let Tempestward fill you in later.

Gosh, old chap, how extraordinarily kind of you. How could I possibly refuse?

We started with Luke Muldowney, John Pomroy and Matt Grave on the bench to give Michael Carey and Charlie McCarthy a chance and for Charlie McCarthy to play up front. It looked like a good choice cos we had the better of the first half, although it took 30 minutes before I had something to write down. Jamie Houghton scored our first, after 37 minutes, when Carey miscued a shot and left the defence flatfooted. In the second half we looked comfortable until a cross found Tony Buss, who shot in from the edge of the area. Time for the big guns so on came Pomroy and Grave but between the two subs came a sending off for Adam Foulser, booked twice in 4 minutes. The numbers were evened up when Lee O'Reilly got his second yellow. Then from two excellent runs and crosses by Grave we got the crucial goals, both from Karle Andrews, not renowned for his goalscoring. He scored after 88 and 92 minutes. Steve Loveridge had a late shot that Justin Gray saved well just before the final whistle.

As games go i thought this was very entertaining.

Its always a risk when you make a few changes and i could see one or two doubtfull looks at the starting eleven. (graves, pomroy and muldowney (luke) on the bench).

(thought Jim on the gate was gonna cry !)

However it is a squad game and some of the lads needed a run out.(i am sure Hanworth did this as well) Fortunatley none of them let us down and put in a really good performance.

I was really pleased with the first half and felt we domintaed the game but maybe lacked a little bit of creativity in the final third.

Our first goal was well deserved after a good move and great delivery from Mike Carey (not a miscued shot Fergie) Jamie Houghton finished well.

Second half as i expected Hanworth upped there game and grabbed a deserved equaliser after around 15 minutes.

It was at that point the referee lost the plot. He booked both Adam Foulser and the Hanworth midfilder player after they bumped into each other and fell over. He gave Hanworth the free kcik but still booked their player ?

Ten minutes later following a couple of robust challenges they were both off for an early bath. No problem with the second bookings but the first were ridiculous.

Until this point the ref had been really good and from talking to him seemed a really decent bloke.

If anything the sending of seem to give us the kick we needed and we really picked our game up in the last 20 mins.

The game was put to bed with 5 minutes to go with two great individulas goals from Karle Andrews.

If anyone saw a fat bald bloke run on the ptich when we scored that was me. (just needed the David Pleat Cream suite !)

I do like a celebration especially when an opposition supporter has been calling me a "c*ck !

This was a really decent cup game played in the right spirit by both sides.

Was nice to have a beer withn their manager "Bob after. Decent bloke.

Anyway on to Saturday now for a visit to Sandhurst and one of the toughest challenges we will face this year.

Cheers

Steve

Smudge. How often have you seen the same situation. Player (a) makes a bad challenge on player (B), so player © - team mate of (B) steams in to confront player (a), and then everyone gets involved and you suddenly have 10 players waving hands and generally causing total confusion. Referee gets involved and suddeny there are a raft of bookings all caused by player (a). Or, in the case of last night, the referee keeps a cool head and lets things die down, tells everyone not directly involved to go away, then proceeds to book the player who committed the original offence. Play continues with a free kick to the correct side and the whole thing dies down, which is exactly what happened last night. Everyone knew it was a bad challenge but having seen justice done there seemed no likelyhood of any aftermath. Not sure about which incident you refer to with regard to the straight arm. There was one where the WP centre half went down under a challenge from the E&E number 9 and made a big fuss, but again the referee dealt with this by talking to the player concerned but, as he had seen nothing, simply warned him. Maybe we will have to beg to differ, but I would be a bit concerned at your concentration levels when you get the fact that the post/bar effort was in the 119th minute and not the 89th minute confused!

Interesting view of the Epsom game from Smudge. I went to have a look at Epsom as we play them Saturday and had no intention of staying on beyond 90. The game started with Epsom looking in control and likely to break the deadlock, only for WP to come back into the game and eventually take the lead prior to half time with a decent curling strike. Second half started with Epsom looking much livelier and they got a rather fortunate goal when the WP defence failed to clear. I was talking to my assistant who was back watching our reserves and said that it seemed like they would go on and win the game but WP dug in and started to exert some pressure themselves and the game evened out and apart from a couple of chances the draw seemed fair at 90 minutes. Again, Epsom took the lead and you thought the extra fitness may tell, but WP still dug in and really pushed and scored a great second in the second period of extra time. I must admit, I was positive the post/bar incident was at the end of extra time and the WP bloke must, as stated, be kicking himself but they put so much into the game that the management could have no recriminations about any of their players even though there would have been absolutely no way back for Epsom. Being a manager it is rare that you become involved in a completely unbiased and chilled way when your side are playing, plus the scouting mission was designed to get some info on Epsom in preparation for Saturday, so I was there in an "official" capacity. The truth last night was that I got well into the game and could not leave for Twickenham until it all finished at around 10.30 because, whilst the game was not the greatest, the sheer endeavour on show made it a game you had to see through to the end. I did not care who won, spent no time picking the bones out of the game and even got invited into the boardroon at half time by the Epsom people who always make me feel welcome, so it was a really enjoyable evening.

With regard to the referee, I did not think he was as bad as suggested. We have had him a few times and he does try to play advantage. There were certainly some instances when it was clear that he had every intention of doing this, only for the move to break down and he then blew. There were also some potentially volatile moments and another referee may have issued more cards, but he seemed in control to me. When he speaks to players he does make sure his voice is heard by others, but I see this as a way of ensuring that everyone knows who is the boss and I have never been aware of him patronising players in any way, just treating them like adults. My one gripe with him, and most referees, is the amount of swearing that people get away with, as there most certainly could have been some cards flashed just for that. I may be wrong, but I have always found him to be a good referee and did not really see too much last night to change my view. And the straight arm thing - there was plenty going on all around the pitch last night and I saw the game as one where the players accepted the physical side and got on with it. Both sides have people who can dish it out a bit, but will also take it, which is quite refreshing and apart from one incident late on - which was dealt with quite well - the players just seemed to get on with the business of trying to win a game of football.

And - they both wanted to win it - none of this "not bothered about this cup" rubbish, it's our league cup and both of these sides went hell for leather to win the game.

NOT A BUSY DAY THEN MANAGER50 !

Looked like a mishit to me, standing behind the goal in question, and I am sure I am not alone, but who gives a toss? It left the HV defence flatfooted and Jamie scored, so happy days. Michael had played very well, so it was good to see a contribution of any kind to a goal.

Shock of the round,Croydon's win at Badshot Lea,they must be definitely concentrating on winning the League, last year decent Cup runs halted their League run, this year early exits seem the norm.Well done Croydon though.Worcester Park must be kicking themselves this Morning,in the 89th minute, the same player hit the post from 6 yds, then hit the rebound against the bar from 4 yds.The Referee Mr Sotormirin had a dreadful game, seemed to me he wanted to be the star of the show,no advantage played,oh and by the the way it is legal to give a player a straight arm, with intent, with force AND NO CARD. 2/10 my mark.

Think farmyard, think strutting, think [****!!****], think Dele. Add a large dose of peacock and the ability to make donkeys lame by talking their hind legs off, and you have Mr S. His name is one we should all dread when seeing a team list in a programme.
