Another good performance from the team and nice to see Grant Cooper even if it was playing against us.

Maldon & Tiptree (1) 2 Sweeny 45, Lee 60

Enfield Town (2) 4 Kirby 9, Byfield 24, Forward 54, Hall 79

Attendance 92

Enfield Town could have been out of sight following a comprehensive first half performance. Maldon were still in touching distance at half time due to a scrambled goal from a penalty, but could only briefly close the two goal margin. A quick second half strike from Dan Forward restored the two goal cushion, and when it was reduced a second time, Rudi Hall duly obliged to keep Maldon at arms length.

An immense performance from Mark Kirby saw him give Enfield an early lead. His first shot was blocked but his follow up effort blasted its way over the line. Town were tearing up the Maldon offside trap and looked to be advancing at will into the Maldon half. Keeper Tony Tucker got down well when Sam Byfield drove a free kick round the wall. Maldon’s Joe Sweeny played the ball in to Kris Lee, but when it was cut out Lawrence Yica pounced only for his shot to be blocked. Yica then picked out Sweeny, but Rob Blackburne was out quickly to claim the ball. A beautifully weighted ball from Rudi Hall split the home defence and Tucker did well to soak up Bryan Hammatt’s low shot. Town were creating chances now every time they went forward. A Superb cross from Jordan Lockie eluded Tucker only for Hammatt to hit the ball over. Byfield came close curling a free kick onto the bar, the Maldon defence struggling to cope. When they went forward, Town’s defence were no less compromising. Ade Onisufwa cut in from the right but ran straight into a solid challenge from Hall. Enfield finally got reward for their efforts when Byfield slipped through the offside trap to fire low into the corner of the net. Maldon suddenly found a bit more space. Lee Blackburn’s free kick was cleared away from Yica, and Lee set up Paul Shave, but his shot was high. Paul Campbell appeared to be baulked in the box, but no penalty was given. Then shortly after Town keeper Rob Blackburne spread himself to smother at the feet of Lee Blackburn only to be penalised. The penalty kick was saved, but Joe Sweeny forced the ball home in a scramble just inside the post.

Enfield came out for the restart full of energy, Byfield immediately driving wide. Maldon looked to build on their goal just before half time, Sweeny and Cooper only denied by McKay and Kirby. But an up field clearance to Wallace saw him run from inside his own half into the Maldon area playing the ball across the six yard box. A step over from Hammatt left an easy job for Dan forward to restore the two goal margin from close range. But it wasn’t over yet. Byfield shot only for the ball to cannon off Forward’s back and then Maldon were back in it. Rob Blackburne parried a shot from the right but Kris Lee recovered well to fire home. Town had further chances to add to their tally, sub Andy Jones firing a 35 yarder just wide, but Rudi Hall sealed it firing Wallace’s flick on past Tucker from 18 yards. Maldon did enough to keep Town on their toes in the final stages, but were unable to close the gap a third time.

Great team performance all round. Kirby was immense, Adam and Bryan worked so hard up front and caused no end of problems to their back four. Sam Byfield had a great game. I'll make the prediction now that not many other teams (if any??) will score four at Maldon this season. They look like a team that once they gell will go on a run of form.

It's worth watching the match highlights inc all four goals from Town - they are now on THE COLD END... Link below in red.

COME ON TOWN!!!

i bet our current form is making Ericshereagain wet himself with excitement for when it comes to an end... He'll be on here like a shot when we lose.

If that's not an incentive to win I don't know what is.

Great performance last night and another thoroughly deserved 3 points for Steve and the boys.

Only disappointment I guess was the way we gifted them a couple of goals (but that's being picky of course) and kept them interested for so long as I thought the football we played and chances we created, especially in the first half, warranted a bigger lead going into half time, 3-0 up would not have flattered us.

Maldon did come into it a bit more second half and I actually thought the trio of Lee, Sweeney and Yica linked up well for a lot of the game on the break and gave our back four a real test at times.

So, a dominant performance, with us playing some great football and I'm just loving the way in which we are knocking it around with confidence at the moment and working hard for each when we aren't in possession. Good times and the squad has so much strength in depth.

Top work as always ColdEnd and good match report scoopydoo.

Up the Town!! Roll on Borehamwood and the excitement of the cup!!

Congratulations and well done to Steve and the lads on another very good result. The league table now reflects your true ability and form. Stick together guys and you will continue to be more than a match for anyone. Think we are now beginning to see the confidence and flowing football that is displayed by a very good football side. We'll find out how good at Boreham Wood on Saturday. Good luck everyone.
