Reading the riot act

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Another lil' blog article:

I'd appreciate your views. I always feel that the referee should be 'invisible' so that the attention is on the players and the game. However, there may be times where the referee has had to 'boss the game' or 'read the riot act' to _deliberately_ stand out when something has kicked off.

When have you seen this done well?

When have you seen this done badly?

the mistake i find is when the ref plays to the crowd. he then becomes the centre of attention. and sometimes this carries on with basic control. this then puts everyones back up. what i have seen that works, is when the ref deals early, and personaly, with players/managers that want to question every decision. this makes the game more enjoyable for everyone.coffee%20%282%29.gif
