Nearly Impressed

Recommended Posts

Started a new game on 01/02 the other day with Gravesend. Requested to 'battle bravely against relegation' by the board, only to end up winning the league by 9 points, scoring 124 goals!

Made about a million quid in transfers as well. Only problem is, nobody wants to play a home friendly against me and I'm struggling to buy anyone <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Here's to life in Division 3...

Never mind Gary.

I found myself immersed in an old 01-02 game yesterday, was swiftly sacked by Watford and to my horror the only job I could get was managing Spurs in Div 1!

Wimbledon are in the Conference and set a record virtually every home game for lowest attendance in the Conf

The that always concerns me is the way Steve Browne has a good reputation and very quickly finds himself at a division one club.

Looks like I've an evening ahead of trying to make Spurs a decent team. Bunch of misers I can tell you. Mid-table in Division 1 when I took over and they have over £100million in the bank and I had £47million to work with. I felt like the Ranieri of division 1!

£47 million in Division One???? I'd save that for a return to the Premier.... You could build a side more than capable enough on £5m, with the rest being spent on decent players once you return to the Prem...

Damn this OU course, I want to be taking Gravesend back up the league again <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Agreed, but with over £100million in the bank I can free spend on whatever I like!

Already convinced my England Internationals from Watford to drop down the division and join me at the Lane. John Ashton and Stefan Moore look set to fire me to promotion.

and there was me thinking you were working hard today.

I couldn't do better than the play off semi finals in the time I had to turn around Spurs fortunes, just goes to show that even money can't make Tottenham a decent football team

Well that's just Tottenham, although I'm beginning to think the same about Gravesend!

Mid table start <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I can't do any work on it until I get some feedback. At which point I will continue to work on it. Honest guv!

Ok buddy, I believe you!

The new season beckons and the board want promotion, and they should get that. Not including a few youth players in the reserves, there are only about 5 members of the squad left who were there when I took over, and I've sold at least half a dozen more who I bought in myself.

Success or sack looms!

Got into the playoffs with a very respectable fourth place finish. Due to the clubs low reputation though, no bugger wants to sign for me still. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Anyway, got beat by Ru$hden in the final. Got nearly 1.5M in the bank, so promotion surely beckons next season if I can find anyone good enough who is actually interested in signing!

Sickening turn of events. Tottenham board not happy with reaching play offs and missing promotion for the second season running and gave me the sack after the last game of the season. Only one side would offer me a job...... Boreham Wood! They have just been promoted to the conference, have no players, are £50,000 in the red, I'm having friendlies arranged without my say so and can't attract a single player to the club. All in all it has worked out horribly <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I find the best thing to do is look at every player who has been released on a free transfer (all transfer screen) and then offer as many of the decent ones a contract (normally 18 or 19 year olds released by Prem or Div 1 clubs, you sometimes get the odd 30+ year old at the end of their career who can do a job). I normally end up signing about 10-20 players and out of that about 3 or 4 get into the 1st Team squad straight away.

It worked with Southend on CM00/01, took them from 3rd Div relagation candidates to FA and UEFA Cup winner in 7 years and currently on CM4 they have gone from Div 3 relagation candidates to 2nd in Div 2 in 4 seasons.
