My best memory of the little man was on stage in the Isle of Man. The show opened in silence, Norman walked into the centre of the stage, not a word said but the audience were in stitches as he fell about for nearly an hour. True comedy does not need bad language or to take the mick out of people who cannot defend themselves, it's a gift, a gift that very few people have had.

I believe no ones spirit dies if, there is some one who remembers them. I have so many fond memories of Norman Wisdom that I for one will never forget him.

Rest in Peace Norman.

Saw him in the late 1970's - he did a summer season at the Lido - absolutely hilarious & quite brilliant.

Remember that year the Council had a Charity cricket match at Dane Park, starring all acts from the summer seasons in Thanet (Tarby, Ronnie Corbett & Norman).

When he went out to bat, he struggled to the wicket with a huge cricket coffin which he placed behind the stumps, then proceeded to take out a golf club, a football, a tennis racquet etc. ... of course the only thing he didn't have in the bag was a cricket bat. A true Entertainer - brilliant !!!

Did his bit for football as well, sponsored a boys team run by his manager/musical director, they played down here in the late 80's and stayed with us,

I saw him at the Lido as well, simply couldn't believe that here in Margate, at that venue, was THE Norman Wisdom. Absolutely hilarious.

 

I seem to remember that he had a car at the time, frequently parked in the Lido car park, with the registration 94 BUS.

 

In 1992 my wife and I went to the Isle of Man and as we went through the airport exit who should be there but Norman Wisdom, obviously seeing friends off.

 

Irreplaceable - some wonderful memories left with his films and "Don't laugh at me".
