I've just read with some interest the story of West Ham United's Victor Obinna survival after a serious car crash.Apparentely Victor whos a Christian was saved by god,what a wonderful uplifting story, of course this means that the thousands of people who are killed every year in car crashes are perished with gods blessing but im sure that this Christian meant no offence by this remarks.

I heard the Butcher of Baghdad, Tony Blair say that when its time to meet his maker he expects God to be his judge and jury. I personally would prefer him to be tried at the Old Baily as any god that allows the killing of up to a million innocent lives to go unpunished while allowing the likes of Blair to live out their lives in obscene luxury, has a serious lack of judgement.

Sorry loose or should i forget forum etiquette like you always do when replying to my posts and call you by your real name Gordon, i didnt realise i was being particularly cyptic in my post. Lets keep it nice and simple for you-Victor believes that he survived the car crash because god wanted him to live, now if we follow Victors logical thread here,not that i would imagine that logical thinking or indeed any kind of thinking plays a big part in Victors life then 'ergo facto' everyone who does die in a car crash dies because god wants them dead.Victor believes that god 'picks sides' and he influences actual events on this planet. Clearly poor simple minded Victor is a complete cretin but thats hardly an excuse for his offence remarks.Of course i have absolutely no right to condone Victors remarks has they form part of his religious beliefs which hes entitled to hold no matter how offensive or plain stupid they may be.

I don't think you've really proved your case that Victor caused offence Richard . Surely atheists cannot be offended since they know that God does not influence actual events on this planet, as you've said yourself, God is just a fairytale for the weak minded so getting offended over a fairytale would seem a nonsense wouldn't it? If people are christians then they understand Victor thanking God for his survival and have to rely on the old maxim about "God working in mysterious ways", so no offence caused there either.

 

I think it's only the simple minded who get so easily offended in this day and age. Perhaps they like being offended or making out that they are. But thats just a belief system too.

Oh what a shame!! here i was thinking that we may possibly be able to have a proper grown up debate but of course you need to resort to thinly veiled snidey remarks aimed in my direction. Most people on here will know that we had a falling out this time last year which i dare say greatly bored the users of fans focus,i have no inclination to resume our hostilities and its a shame that you still bear a grudge and lack the maturity to 'move on'.I free that you lack the ability to read my posts in a objective manner so surely your best course of action would be simply not to read them or at least dont reply to them unless you can do so in a rational,impersonal manner. Can't really see where I've offended you but as I said, people are very easily offended these days. Not sure what any of this has to do with any so called grudge but don't worry, no need to bore people further by bringing it up, what a shame you want to.
