Today at FA Vase Game

So today I had my 4 th FA appointment of the season. Very lucky.

I was on a FA Vase game between a ?Hellenic Side and a Spartan

Given a lift by the Referee to save the sides money on travelling expenses as indicated by the FA Bulletin. I got paid £20 (not an issue as far as I am concerned)

1st half was quiet and slightly one sided. 2nd half completely different. Very competitive and full of dissent. this included 2 people who were on the committee of the away side. Behind them while they vented their anger were kids playing football. The players from both sides continued to vent their disapproval of the referees decisions despite the fact that a good 90% of them were correct. Neither assistants were exempt from this either.

So I enjoyed the travelling to and from the game. I enjoyed the hospitality from the home club. Not one member of the away committee had the decency to come and speak. Did I enjoy the game. On reflection probably not.

So the question I am now asking myself is do I pack up. There is very little respect for officials whatever people from the FA, clubs etc say. And it is getting me down. I got grief from a full back today over 2 decisions and he then was penalised for a foul throw. He couldnt even throw the ball in properly yet felt empowered to shout at me over decisions he didnt agree with !!!!

am sure you will feel better when you have slept on it....

my game was nothing like yours:

on line...(due to having had a hand operstion so needed to keep it covered)...on the Suburban FL game

AFC Wimbledon v Hampton & Richmond Borough

great football from both sides...no moaning from anyone..both captains took charge of their players...even when a forward thought it should have been a handball..therefore a penalty...the captain told the player to shut up and get on with playing....

both managers just keep encouageing the players and as i was far side...don;t think any of the beaches moaned at any decieson made but any match officals...handshakes all round at the end....

great afternoon ...2-2..and the best bit...most of the play was in the other half...so not that much to do....

Dont you dare think about giving it up.we need officials like you.

Yes we do have the odd bad officials but most are true gents who do a grand job & alot is down to the lack of players ability & they just cant have the balls to admit to their mistakes & take it out on the officials

We suggested to our match officials yesterday (very good btw) that the Respect campaign hand shaking thing should be done after the game!

I would tend to disagree Chris.

They got so many decisions wrong although none that affected the outcome of the game!

The decisions were getting so 1 sided he may aswell have put a CWU shirt on. Very frustarting but colliers wood deserved the win. CWU front 2 were the difference!

JJ, THATS TRUE. I KEEP HEARING AND HAVE SEEN THE CWU FRONT PAIRING (ONLY ON 1 OCCASION) AND HAVE TO ADMIT THEY LOOK VERY USEFULL, SO BE PREPARED CHRIS TO EXPECT 7DAYERS SOON NO DOUBT ! I THINK JOSEPH GOT SENT OFF AGAINST REDHILL (I STAND CORRECTED) SO HE WILL MISS OUT ON A GAME OR TWO AND CWU HAVE TO HOPE THAT THEY BOTH DON'T GET INJURED, THEN THEY WILL SURPRISE MANY A TEAM THIS SEASON WHICH THEY HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED, SO WELL DONE CWU AND LONG MAY IT CONTINUE !!!

Krooner.... Good days.... Bad days .. I suspect you have had worse and no doubt there will be other 'off days' . Why let a left back and 2 members of a club that you will never probably return to get you down enough to consider jacking in!!

Get on with it and ' water ducks back' and all that!!

You stick with it Kroons !

I find it deplorable that no-one from the 'away' side bothered to come and thank you.

As I have said previously on here we do not moan at officials and the only player that speaks to the ref is my captain and myself from the bench. If any player does not comply with this he will be dragged. Very good officials at SL level this year and I think with only 1 exception I have been pleasantly surprised. How many of us that make team / tactical mistakes get abused by the officials for them......Think about it.

When you have 3 or 4 games in a short period that you do not enjoy, that is the time to stop.

One sour game is normally followed by a succession of really enjoyable games that make you realise why you are out there

Perhaps you should be asking what we as officials should be doing about players/club officials that spoil our and others day by constant abuse.

We tend to ignore it too much and so it goes on
