Romford 2-2 ETFC

No Romford scored first then we got two. The game was not a good game. Ford does not have a good atmosphere as you are a long way from the pitch.

The pitch appeared narrow and Romford played a 4-4-2 formation utilising an OFF SIDE trap which was well organised though, contrary to Clarke last year, Enfield rarely got caught!!! For both of those reasons the midfield was rather crowded. Game was played in good spirit though Matty got booked as did AN other. (Jason?)

All goals came in the second half.

I didn't think it was that bad a game, although not end to end and packed with goalmouth action.

I thought Romford looked a good side, and played some good passing football. We coped well though and weathered the storm in the first 20 odd minutes and then gradually worked our way into the game. We were beginning to look good when confusion in the defence gifted Romford a goal, slightly against the run of play at that time.

Once we had gone a goal up however I thought we were favourites for the game, but oh dear me no. I have to put the blame on Chopper's socks again I'm afraid, but I confess I was not wearing the lucky underpants again.

Definitely two points dropped rather than one point won, but ealry days yet and it's getting better. Simon Miller looked pretty good to me.

Cup next. Cardiff here we come!

(2 points lost - agreed)We played well.

I enjoyed the game even if the referee was determined not to be accused of being unbiased. If it was a corner to us it became a goal kick!

How many chances did Romford have of Free-kicks outside our box; 20 - 30? Town player gets kicked up in the air and ref waves play on, Romford player gets an immediate free-kick. The Romford fans did warn us about the ref when they saw his name on the teamsheet.

St Matthew was booked? Says it all really.

As Allan Fenns biggest critic I have to own up and say he had a GOOD game at both ends of the pitch.

I thought the mix of Simon Miller and the Nighthawk seemed to work well in the first half. Not so good about the hamstring injury to Simon though!

I know I'm a Matty fan but I felt he worked hard, especially in the second half.

As for Jason Geraghty - What is the diet he is on and can Town market it? This veritable "Bubbles" turned-up pre-season and after a few matches he is a slimline version and running his socks off - Well done. Perhaps I should try it?

Good signs for the weekend but still need to get our act together at the back.

After the shambles against Basildon, we now seem to be improving, and whilst this maybe 2 points dropped, after that 1-4 home defeat, I think we would all have been pleased to take a point from this game.

Thought Wayne Grant did well, in the second half, with his pace and strength caused a few problems for them, and he was prepared to chase the ball.

Having severely criticused Alan Fenn after the Basildon fiasco, I would like to say that I agree that he had a very good game last night. As usual a superb performance from Disco Dave and some good saved from Chopper (despite the socks). However everyone did well.

Is Adam injured? And did Rids get a knock - he seemed to limping when he went past on his way to the burger bar in te second half.

Fenn did play better, but was partly to blame for Romfords second goal,as he lost the flight of the ball and allowed their forward to control it ,ultimatly resulting in the goal.......Having said that,it was never a free kick in the first place, the ref ignoring a much more blatent free-kick to enfield Town seconds earlier.

Fair enough we have under-performed in our first five games(and at present i can't see it getting a lot better),but if we would have had an even share of luck and refereeing decisions,we could have easily have been sitting with 9 or 10 points, instead of 5.

I say ,let's play 4-4-2....with players playing in their natural positions...We also need to play a settled starting 11.

When everybody's fit how about:

Hall

Gant Snowden Brotherton McGregor

Allen Quinn Geraghty Negus

Miller Ulatowski

With: G.hall Ridout Everitt Grant ..exc..as subs.

Ahhh! So nice to see one of Mick's old schoolfriends! Surely the teachers could've taught you to use the spell-check though!? Not quite sure what you had after half time but just glad you enjoyed yourself on 'Day Release' from that secure unit in Basildon!
