Croydon Athletic off..... Why?

I was going to go to the game tonight, as a neutral. (I turned up last month in the monsoon, unaware the original game had been postponed.)

OK, on the face of it the thread title's a daft question. You had a cup replay. When clubs have a cup replay, midweek league games get postponed almost as a matter of course.

Except that your replay was on Monday and the Croydon Athletic game was Wednesday. I know Sat-Mon-Wed-Sat isn't nice, but a lot of teams will probably have to endure a couple of weeks of it in April when players are shagged.

You had an opportunity to take on a bunch of kids and trialists from, at best, Ryman One South, who don't know each other from Adam. It wasn't an absolutely certain 3pts but you'd have been long odds-on for the win. Now you'll have to play them when they're in a much better state. They might even have got some backers in and have a proper team.

I can see why they might have been keen to call the game off, but I think you ought to have played and I'm a bit surprised nobody seems to have whinged about it on here.

Fair comments and you raise some points that did cross my mind. But on the back of extra time and penalties Monday night I didn't give it anymore thought.

why would a team want to play 3 games in 5 days if they don't have to,surely as you say,it will happen in april so why bother doing it now

Another point. In April 1967 Margate played nearly 3 games a week.
