Trapped Chile Miners

Recommended Posts

Rhodes

Even a heartless sole like yourself must have been moved to tears as you watched the first of those brave miners brought to the surface to be reunited with their loved ones.

Today's coverage of the events was television at its very best, but I reckon that you will have some kind of warped response telling us how, Strictly Come dancing, The X Factor etc, are far more worthy programmes to grace our TV screens.

Officialspokesman - It's strange you should bring that up as I am fed up to the back teeth of the blanket tv coverage of the rescue operation today, it even took precedence over Prime Minister's Questions earlier which was not shown live. I can see where you are coming from and it's great news that the miners are safe and sound however, at the end of the day, what has the rescuing of a few Chilean miners got to do with us here in Britain, they paid their money and took their choice so were well aware of the dangers when taking the job.

It's a world story Rhodesly, the world is becoming smaller everyday and we are a part of it.

You continuously say that they were miners, knew the dangers and therefore had paid their money and taken their choice. Everything is dangerous to some degree Rhodesly, if any harm befell you working as you do in what must be a fairly high priority terrorist target should we just shrug it off, feel no sympathy for you or your friends and family because you made your choice to work there? No, even you should be worthy of some regard, your family particularly.

You really are priceless Rhodes, and I honestly think you are just being controversial for the sake of it.

I thought I did watch PMQT on BBC2 live, today and even if you hate blood sports it was highly entertaining stuff watching oily rag Cameron get a bloody nose from our next Prime Minister, Ed Milliband.

I thought I had posted on this thread a couple of weeks or so ago when, incredibly, the majority of the rescued Chilean miners were invited to Old Trafford and given the VIP, sorry, VVIP treatment, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Man United and they were introduced to Sir Alex Ferguson and the players at United’s training ground with photoshoot opportunities before attending the United v Arsenal game and watching from the Director's box. I gather they were all put up in a five star hotel in Manchester and wined and dined all at the Club's expense, what I don't understand is why!

Those of us who have Sky TV saw it for ourselves, thank you. And why not? Wonderful gesture. Great publicity for Manky Utd as well!

Horace - Yes but how much must it have cost the Club in the current climate, I gather the miners flights were paid for too which were no doubt First or Business Class.

I think that Man U can afford it! And they'll probably sell half a million shirts in Chile!

Horace - I don't doubt that but what have the Miners done to deserve such red carpet treatment

You above all people should recognise a huge news story when you see one, as you seem to spend all your time trawling through them. The Chilean miners are already legends and will attract media coverage whatever they do. I'm surprised you haven't named them all on here by now! Oh, wait, they're not attractive, scantily clad women, are they?

Horace - I'm sorry but I just think it is all wrong to 'hero worship' the 33 Chilean miners when the 29 New Zealand miners all perished recently in that terrible tragedy and you don't hear a single word about them

you would if they had survived! Surely you understand how the media work? (being such a devoted follower of what the tabloids put on their front pages).

Horace - Can you really blame me though, don't the likes of Kelly Brook, Kara Tointon and Anna Friel set your pulses racing
