Margate 1 Kingstonian 1 - Site Updates

Was suprised when listening to the game that the manager bought on a defender when Pinnock was injured, considering he had 2 forwards on the bench. Playing for a draw ?

Shouldn't you be out there watching your own team (lose) Ian? I told you when you won your first game that regular service will be restored soon over there & it seems like I was right. Fair do's though you did win another game before that happened.

The loss of 3 key players for us,Osbourne (ill I was told), Marsden (wedding I was told) & Ishmail Kamara (half fit it seems) certainly showed today. We were lacking in midfield, lacking in creativity & had no pace up front today.

Cracking first goal for us however but old habits die hard & we ponce about in our own area again & they equalise immediately.

Fortunate & to come away with the draw really & still be in the hat but the game as a whole was pretty dire.Despite their territorial dominance in the 2nd half, all but for a handful of decent efforts & saves they rarely threatened. We were just poorer than they thats all.Ist half pretty even.

Pity that late goal of ours was dissallowed as it would have been nice to have repaid them by stealing the game as they did to us up there.

With those 3 players back (if possible) on Monday I'm sure we will improve on todays performance. We have been miles better than this of late.

One player that stood out for me,Curtis Robinson, again.

Not so sure Cookie, Kingstonian looked a class above the other teams we've seen at Hartsdown this season, lets hope they're a bit complacent in the replay. Perhaps an attractive 3rd Q round draw will boost the 'Gate at Kingsmeadow.

I won't argue about that Peter but they are still there for the taking as Folkestone & even pitiful Maidstone well know.

If on top form we could & probably would have had this contest at home sewn up & at the first time of asking.

Away in the FA CUP (The FA Cup not one of our better records in recent years) & without those key players we might find things a lot harder than in the league game we played there. Whoever plays for us they need to knuckle down to the task they face on Monday.

They certainly CAN do it even if under strength but they will need to want it more than they do,put in extra effort to balance out the loss of any of those main players missing (if indeed they are). & concentrate. If they do these things we might see a result we wish for on Monday night.

(Out of 10 on the my one viewing of each)

Canvey Island 4

Maidstone 1

Aveley 2

Wealdstone 2

Kingstonian 6

Folkestone 3

Margate (without being biased,(okay maybe with a little bit), I would rate a 7 from what I've seen so far)

Agreed Steve, conditions didnt help either side on the day but then again we should be more suited & more adaptable to those conditions than others having had plenty of experience of such in the past.

But hey,we underperformed, had 3 main players out & still didn't lose (as others have rightly said) so thats a positive for the replay.

Once, towards the end of the 1st half, I had to rub my eyes, did see the gate play the ball along the ground? 7 passes, cutting like a knife through butter into the opposition area before someone couldn't resist raising the ball. Result, we lost it when a simple ground pass to his left would have found a gate foot with a clear shot.

Fund raising Idea: instead of clay pigeon shooting we could have football shooting, the ball went so high so often there would be no chance of any spectator being injured.

:) couldnt have put that better Blueblood, when we played the ball on the ground we were the better team and they couldnt handle us, however we slipped into the hoof and hope style football they were playing (as per) and lost control - shame as the boys need to believe in each other just a weeny bit more.
