I've fond memories of my last visit to Bognor, who can forget Joe Bakers goal in our FA Trophy victory? Was really looking forward to a return visit this season but after Saturdays match I just couldnt face the long trip only to see a similar performance and tarnish those happy memories. Top marks to those who did go, just hope the team gave a good account of themselves.

I've been given a brief synopsis of how the game got on and, although still no points on the board, I really do think that it is only a matter of time (and not too much of it) before you turn it around and begin to pile on the pressure. You have a young, talented and, from what I hear, and enthusiastic team there and am sure once things will get better once they settle down. It's not as though you're having problems scoring.

Good luck in your next few games, but please feel free to play blindfolded on the 6th! <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Well, personally I think this was out best display so far. We were very unlucky not to come away from this game with something.

The first 5 minutes i thought we looked like we were taking the game to Bognor but on 8 minutes they stuck in a good cross and their lad tucked it away in the bottom right. JJ was at full stretch and it seemed to me no one was to blame, just a good goal. We lost Scarbough with a head wound after a clash of heads with Reddington so Dormer came in at centre half, with Jimmie Lee taking over right back and henty moving over to left back. Heads never went down and we carried on going forward, Marlon looking like he could create somthing and the longer the game went on the more Nial (lionel) Ritchie came into the game. Midway through the half Leon Hunter hit a cracker and had the keeper beaten but not the crossbar. We had another couple of attacks the best of all coming from Hockton who also smashed one against the bar. For me, he should have tucked this one away, a bit less power and a bit more placing would have seen us go in all square.

Second half we went at them again. Russell in particular was having a good game. He went for so many tackles and seemed to come away with the ball so many times. For me, Russ was man of the match as i felt he was in charge of midfield today. His only blemish coming when he really should have scored with about ten mins to go. The ball fell to him in the 6 yard box but he wanted too many touches before hitting it at the keeper.

Bognors second came from a break in the 81st min, again cant really think of anyone to blame only to say that it seemed to me like it was a ball over the centre halves who were then duly beaten for pace. The game was over for us after this.

All in we were unlucky but we cant keep saying that before this becomes a problem. I know we have said the lads need time to gel, but how long to you give it? we have lost every game and are now the only team without a point. We keep saying that the team are nearly there, but are they really? You cant fault they desire to want to do well, for many of them this is their first and poss last chance at this level if they get it wrong. I still think we need some older heads out there. Anyone read the Bognor player notes on their programme? their players were wither 22-26 or 30-33. Russell is one of our olderst players at 25!! Justin is clearly not going to be able to play but what about Polston? is he registered as a player? was he not playing last season in the Ry Prem?

I dont know what the answer is at the moment, I like most think we are close to that first win, but how much damage could be done before it arrives. Carshalton on sat, and they are top of the league!

On a more positive note, i thought all the lads did well today. Thought we looked more solid with Dormer and Reddington at the back, however Scars was having a good game before he went off.

the only diff today was Bognor had two shots and scored two goals. We created more but couldnt take our chances.

It will come, and well done to everyone who made the trip today. Even saw some Blue's fans on the crazy golf!!

stay positive everyone.

I think it was a matter of really not deserving this defeat. I thought we were good for at least a draw after the first opening "jitters". In some areas we outplayed Bogner, especialy in the first half when we hit the crossbar (twice) and went close a couple more times. To those standing behind the goal, it looked only a matter of time. But, it was not to be and once again we ended up with nothing.

It doesn't help that we are not getting the "rub of the green" when trying to put those through balls in. I noticed quite a few times, the deperate defender's leg stretching out and managing to block the final pass, only to have the rebound collected by a Bongner team mate. That doesn't mean to say that we didn't stop making it hard for ourselves. Some of our final balls were also misguided, or final shot directionless. But that happens anyway, in any game.

Nope, all in all, the lads did put in the effort and deserved more. The problem really now is self belief (in my opinion) and Justin and his management team have a real task on their hands to pick the team up. A task that I do not envy.

Another thing I would say is, there was a brilliant turn out of Billericay support today and those that witnessed todays game, well, I hope they will be patient enough to give Justin and the lads time to reverse the position we are in. I didn't hear the boo's on Tuesday night (must have been selective hearing on my part) but that is not the way to support the team, especially one as new and young as the one we have. I do understand that you pay the £8 or whatever admission fee and therefore the mentality of "having your say" but confidence is down and booing solves nothing. Todays support there was often heard the cry of "believe" and many of the supporters got behind the team, encouraging them. Lets hope that continues.

I didn't hang around for long after the final whistle, so I cannot comment on what was said amoungst the supporters but I hope their spirit for the team hasn't lost any of it's furvour and energy and that on Saturday they will continue getting behind the Justin and the players.

Agree with what has been said, we deserved soemthing out of this game as we outplayed Bognor in the second half. Everyone I spoke to was extremely dissapointed. There is room for improvement and a couple of more senior players are not performing as they did in the friendlies. I thought Dormer and Richie played really well. Jimmy Lee had his best game so far for us. Gary Ansell never stopped trying but needs support. Hockton, we need a bit more effort from you and use body weight more. Hunter - not a good game.

My team for Saturday, assuming Andy Jones is fit would be.

JJ

Lee, Reddington, Dormer, Henty

Richie, Penn, Ansell, Patterson

Hockton, Jones A

I think we're still paying the price for throwing away the game against Aylesbury - to me it looks like the team's confidence took something of a hammer blow there that we're struggling to bounce back from. If we could just get a start - a scrappy 1-0 win with the ball going in off somebody's backside or summat - then the confidence would return and I think we could look at picking up the points regularly. It doesn't help that we keep picking up injuries but hopefully we now have a few days for the lads to get their confidence back and get fit before we take on Carshalton!

ditto everything really

i think even the most ardent bognor fan would have to say we were value for at least a point. however the fact remains we have played four games and got none. surely our second half performance when we annihilated bognor 0-1 must be the final nail in the three at the back coffin. seeing as i cant make the next two games agst carshalton and kingstonian all ricay fans can rest assured we,ll have 6 points on the board by the time i come back....lets hope so anyway

cmon the blues!!

Probably sums it up that thier keeper was the Man of the Match. When we get the ball down and play it on the deck we can carve chances out frequently. Russell played well and probably in my opinion needs to stay there as he gives the midfield the aggresive edge it has lacked so far. Reddington was my Man of the Match and he and Nessy looked assured at the back, don't think JJ had one shot to save. Special mention to Gary Ansell who once again ran his knackers off. On this form it won't be long before things start to turn around, and I'm pretty sure that in a parrallel universe somewhere we would have 7 points instead of none! I still say we'll finish in the top 8.

I don't want people thinking that I'm blaming everything but the team but the match officials have been a contributing factor towards the bad results and lack of confidence as well. Again, I know we haven't exactly made things easy for ourselves sometimes but the men in the black have been very poor this season so far.
