Used to play with Karl at Ash 4 or 5 years ago. Was not a bad lad, very hard working but not a 25 goal a season man.

 

Saw him against Badshot Lea and he hasnt changed much. Seems to have gotten stronger and is now a lot more experienced.

 

Cant believe he has gone to Chertsey though!!

 

Bonzo would be fuming after losing all his other players!!

Dont get me wrong, he can be nasty and a bit reckless but its not natural in his game.

 

I remember 5 or 6 years back, there was a 22 man brawl in the corner where the changing rooms are just after Brunty had been bitten on the nose by a Chertsey player. Brunty and i were in the thick of it as was the Chertsey manager and players. Then along comes Karl Dallaway steaming in with 4 or 5 thumps on the back of the head of the Chertsey manager! Very funny indeed!!

 

Will never forget Karl leaning over everyone to stick a few in.

Jonno. I think you will find the person that he puched in the back of the head 4 or 5 times was me.

I was trying to stop the fight when 3 or 4 of your players piled in and he puched my from behind several times. What a brave lad.

Didnt seem so brave after it all calmed down though

I had a very good view Steve and you were more at fault than anyone else except for ur centre half who bit Brunty.

 

You steamed in and grabbed hold of Brunty which flaired things up even more. There was no peace making from yourself from what i could see.

 

Lets be honest, there must have been 15 lads in that corner and they werent all Ash players! Most of the brawl was pushing and handbags although you and Brunty did have a few digs and punches at each other which is probably why Karl came steaming in. He is a bit headless and clueless at times!

 

I dont condone what Karl did nor do i believe an incident like this should end up in a brawl and someone getting smacked on the back of the head but, if your player hadnt bitten Brunty on the nose, and you hadnt piled in like a steam train, then the fight wouldnt have started and you wouldnt have got whacked!

 

No one was laughing at the time but looking back you have to admit there is some comedy there if you look really hard??

The only reason i didn't find it funny was as result of the punches to the back of my head i suffered a perforated ear drum and lost 95% of hearing in my right ear.

As a result i had to leave the job i was doing and it was a real low point in my life.

Ha ha think i got you there Jonno ! :)

There was nothing wrong with me except a bruised ego. (and a head like a cabbage for a couple of days)

Thought it was quite funny at the time and still do.

I was a young player coach at the time and reacted like a dick.

Our centre half was a fat [****!!****] and was just hungry and when Brunty stuck his head in his face he couldn't resisit..

I can remember Brunty saying "do you now who i am " Love it

Gotta love the banter !

Steve have to say I have complete sympathy for you for what happened and the injury you received but who was this idiot centre back who bit Brunty,I think if I was you i'd want to know what the feck is his problem, did he just think there would be no reaction from the Ash players if a dog bites somebody they are likely to be put down.

Lets hope there's not a 'lets get Johnno' campaign when we face each other on 16th October! Remember, i was just holding your arm to prevent you from unleashing your upper cuts on Brunty! I dont do punching as its callous and uncalled for. I prefer to disable my opponent and then if throwing them flat on to their back is not enough, i would usually then put them in an arm lock or strangle them until a submission comes or they pass out!

 

I think you are mistaken by what you think Brunty said.

 

Brunty was a nobody in those days and wouldnt have said that. He's still a nobody playing in Div 1 at Knaphill !
