Danny Burnell

lets hope he makes a major and immediate impact. exactly the sort of signing i was hoping we could make. young regular scorer hopefully with a bit of pace about him. exactly what most other teams seem to have yet we seem to lack.

good options now with Sonner coming back. Martin and Sippetts i believe will still prove vital this season. whether we will keep all 5 strikers i dont no depends on budget i suppose.

Good player, and certainly one that Steve Bateman has had his eye on for a while.

Burnell has been highly rated for a while, and went on loan to Conference South clubs whilst at Chesham, so should be just what we're looking for in our league!

One things for sure, something will have to give.

When Craig O'Connor's fit it will give us 3 forwards on the bench which obviously won't happen.

So, who will give way and who will partner Danny Burnell up front?

In the past SB has tended to favour the big man little man combination up front.

think if we had to lose one would probably be CoC but there is very little between them really

wasn't until he was suspended that i realised how much Sonner adds to the team though he needs to make sure he doesn't keep getting cautioned by refs.

there is the chance of course that Burnell could help bring better performances from any of the strikers we currently have. perhaps Martin and Sonner particularly wont always have to be wide battling to just create a chance to cross leaving little to no numbers in middle. thats something that happens far too often

Mr rebel, I think that the reason the strikers are coming wide is not because of the strikers we have been playing but because of our lack of width. This is something that happens mostly on the right when sincs cuts inside. On the left we usually have Danny on the overlap.

I dont think this will change but again dont see it as an issue as it gets the midfield in the box anyway

I think Sonner has to start as he is our best option as a second striker and creates that link with the midfield. Therefore should be sonner and burnell

Great signing and exactly what we need to now push on and get in front of Hitchin

Not just Hitchin to worry about. This division could be very tight all season with 4 or 5 teams vying for 1st place, hence the need for a forward who can start converting the chances that we create.

Yay, we have a recognised goalscorer! Really pleased we've got one now after all i've banged on about it since pre-season started ;-)

In the back of my mind was slightly hopeful that Elliot would return as he does not seen to be getting much of a chance at Hayes and Yeading. Seems that on-loan strikers and midfielders playing up-front seem to be getting the nod ahead of him. However Danny Burnell's record at this level speaks for itself. I know Maidenhead supporters were keen for him to go back there last season. Only last week Wealdstone's manager said he can be top scorer at their club:

Oh and don't forget to vote for Danny in the FA Cup player of the round poll after his four goals against Tring, as we saw he obviously deserves it!! ;-P

Can we get him the 80,000 votes that we got Alex Haddow that time!

Lets not put the cart before the horse here, as he has yet to score a goal for Slough.

I will mention just a few names to bring this back to reality:

Matt Miller

Simon Martin

Danny Jordan

Deji Davies

All BIG goal scorers for other clubs.

Hope Danny does well for us, but let him play first before giving him the golden boot award.

Personally, I'd keep CoC.

I think he's looked quite good in the playing time he's had. Certainly gives 100% and when fit will be a right handful for any defence.

i totally agree with you staines , we seem to have the knack here of being able to stop leading goalscorers from scoring but only when they are playing for us

Be positive!!!! For every Deji Davies we've also had in recent times the likes of Hodgy, Tony Boot and Sammy Winston who all scored loads. Let's hope that Danny continues in that vain.

Tony Boot, now there was an underated player. went to dagenham and had the best record out of their strikers but still only had 13 apps and then was got rid of

Slough's greatest ever player never made the pro ranks, it can only be that he was not very fast. So I would not expect Tony Boot to make it.
