Folkestone Invicta vs Margate

I agree with Cookie's assessment, and just to add that our players looked a whole class better than their opponents: sharper passing, quicker to the ball, stronger in challenges. The Folkestone side knew they were up against a better team, and a few heads went down after our second. As the saying goes, we wanted it more.

Shame about Ismail as he skinned them alive at Kingston. 525 attendance on Sat. There will be more than that of course but i think that will be offic. figure. Good start to season but would love a cup run.

To be honest Geoff, I don't see your comment about attendance on Saturday is helpful or constructive.

Worst possible start (although I didn't actually see the goal as was still walking round!), and it showed to begin with: we looked a little edgy for first 10 minutes or so. But once we levelled it up with probably our first attack of the game, we pretty much controlled the remainder of the first half. Two great set-pieces from Wayne and two towering headers - fantastic goals. Came out of the blocks very well second half, and if we had scored early on, which, given our constant pressure, we probably should have done, we could have gone on to have a more comfortable evening.

Nonetheless, the result was certainly the correct one. We were much the better team. Very impressed with the team as a whole, but Welford in particular was superb again last night. He has all the attributes of a top-class forward. Roll on Kingstonian!

Welford is the missing piece of the jigsaw that Margate have not had in past few seasons and the big Geordie is going to be the king pin to how our season fairs but at the mo and from what i have seen of him the man is passionate and determined to win every game he plays and that has rubbed off onto everyone else in the squad . Ishmail i think we will have to give him time , nurture him like a youngster and turn him into a man and he will be massive for us . Iain O keep up the great work and long live MFC .

Up the Gate .
