MFC vs Wealdstone

Should have been a "stroll" but we made very very heavy weather of it. Only one direct shot from opponents (well pushed away) & one soft header saved by Turner. Apart from those two efforts Turner had nothing to save.

Could & should have won this by a long way. First half better with numerous chances (their keeper however didnt really have a shot to save though to be honest). 2nd half we backed off, didnt hustle like we did in the first half, generally allowed them more of the ball without them looking dangerous.

Again we have all the chances but can't put the ball away & headlines looked like being "unlucky & should have scored earlier" were looking about right at one point however again we get lucky & score, though it was a (good header by Welford for Pinns to score..

I have all the time in the world for Ishmail but his penalty was atrocious.I think that miss might have sapped his confidence after that. Dont attempt one again Ishmail, please!

Keister for me was majestic at the back, only the one slight error, losing control slightly, which lead to their one shot at goal but his interception immediately before that loss of the ball was superb..Robinson & Saunders stood out for me also.

We really do need to & should be putting these teams to bed much earlier than we are doing. I'm sure though that it will all come together one day,all these chances we are making will go in & some team, sooner or later WILL get a good old tonking from us.

Thought Wealdstone were a poor side in fact from what I have seen this season we seem to be as good as anyone. Keister I thought had a cracking game great interceptions, great organisation was a bit worried when he and Curt were put in the middle but it seems to be working well, only pressure from Wealdstone came after we scored and we seemed to back right off but we deserved the win no doubt. Also thought Welform worked so hard all afternoon.

My two peneth worth is that we definately deserved the three points (much to my delight as their fans were ..... well :) ). We came out of the blocks well and in the first half Im sure we had 95% of possesion so why we never scored a hat full is beyond me but our defence (marshalled excellently by JK) was solid and our midfeild was twice that of theirs - however we didnt quite finish as well we have done as late. Shaun Welford was brills first half but maybe carrying an injury in the second half as he seemed laboured,. Darren Marsden still isnt 100% but still worried their midfield and Jay Saunders was his usual dependable self. Curtis was and is continuing to impress as he seems to fit wherever IOC seems to put him. Jamie Turner was pretty quiet in the first half as the stones really didnt threaten our goal and didnt really look like breaking our defence in the second either. As much as I dont like seeing JK on the pitch (only because I think the younger lads need the time to gel etc) he was by far our best player and IMO MOM, and I never thought I would say that but credit where credit is due.

Maidstone beating Kingstonian..... bring em on cos with the team IOC has assembled I reckon we will do em .... :-)))

I throughly enjoyed the first half, but was annoyed we were not leading by at least two goals. Never thought i say this, but i'm was eating a big slice of humble pie 1st half.

Curtis what a game, always thought he never did anything for me, but by God not only was the Pope in town but Curtis came and stole the gig!!

Second half i did not enjoy, yes we got the goal and three points, but we never got into the game. Was it tiredness? change of tactics? don't know.

But hey 3 points is 3 points bring on Tuesday.....

I think that in the first half we hussled them for everything, and didn't give them any time on the ball, which forced them into mistakes. In the second

half tey came out fighting a bit more which evened it up.

I think in the last 20 minutes we backed off too much which allowed them to run at us. They were picking the ball up in their half and running at us and you could see the whole line moving back, well into our half. When we did stand up, and not back off, we looked far more solid. However a good win, and apart from one cracking save from Turner, after a rare Keister mistake, he never had anything to do for most of the game. On that subject Turner seems to get better every time I see him.

Osbournes pace may not be as it maybe once was but his contribution overall in all the games I've seen has been magnificent. He does what he has to do & does it well. Long may he be injury-free & continue to be picked to play. Curtis Robinson just keeps on getting better & better. Keister was superb yesterday (shows others how to intercept & stand up to oncoming players). Bravo all 3!

Have just listened to the commentary this morning & for those not at the game it was in fact Alex Waugh who came on as substitute & not Winchcombe.

Could have sworn I saw Winchie hold up the number 16 so apologies for the error. Must concentrate more ;)

Irrespective of the number it surely can be seen, I would have thought, the difference in build between Waugh & Winchcombe, not to mention those bright orange (or is it yellow) boots of Alex's, even from a distant. But lets not dwell on it eh?

Glad you said that Dave - I can carry on concentrating the same amount! With due respect to the players concerned, I've no idea what they look like from 60 yards away although I also wondered what Josh was doing quite so far forward at times :)

It was Alex Waugh and he was wearing 16 - so I guess that makes the original list wrong

I think the team sheet was wrong Steve. I actually wrote the numbers down as you announced them, and checked them twice, as the first time I could not find Marsden, who was not on the team list in the programme. You announced Waugh as 15 and Winchcome as 16 and I have it in black and white. So its Ken Tomlinsons fault!!!!
