Eventful game at Gardiners Close. Must say, the pitch and facilities have improved ten fold over there so well done to the Commitee and others of Basildon Utd.

Manor missed several one on one opportunities to kill the game off first half....around ten mins from half time, the Basildon forward followed through on Manor's keeper Seals for the second time, both times there was no need!!

Seals grasped the ball, their pr@t of a forward tried to square up to Seals in a ott aggresive manner, then a Manor defender pushed the forward away. The Basildon lad then rained in a few haymakers (all missing I might add) and following a melee the teams were pulled apart. All sorted, aside from the Basildon forward...simply handbags.

The ref and both linesmen chatted, the forward was sent off an rightly so...although muttering the usual, "see you after" comment that people always come out with in football. (Never get that in Rugby which is a more manly game).

Then the linesman who was running the Basildon left back side, spoke to the ref about the incident that was ten yards from the opposite linesman over 60 yards away. Seals was sent off....what a complete and utter farce these officials are. Basildon players, commitee and even the assesor (and they always back officials) all said it was a joke. The Assessor commented to Manor people that he would come down hard on the officials following this incident after the match.

Hopefully (as Bas produce DVD's), Seals gets off any ban. But that dont help Manor who had to play 55 minutes with Bagpuss (Midfielder) in goal. Could still have won the game though. Young lads done well.

Just makes me laugh though, yet again officials ruin a decent game and have the arrogance to speak to you like sh1te.

:wall: :flame: Oh well rant over!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a ridiculous decision made by an official who for the whole game was more interested in how many people were standing up in the dug out and what they were saying than what was happening on the pitch.

Second time we've had him and all he is interested in is threatening management, subs and fans with expulsion from the pitch or ground!! All about him instead of what was developing into an interesting derby game!!

Somehow he saw someone throw a punch that no-one else in the whole ground saw from the furthest distance away from the incident :harlekin:

Shame as it had the makings of a good game and Manor were looking good for an away win. In the end a point was a good result but we still had the better chances to win it in the second half.

Next up the Vase saturday - Up the Manor

I was also there last night and can only confirm what has been said above. The Manor officials etc in the stand were understandably furious. I mentioned in a thread a few weeks ago that the culture that the FA have allowed to develop of officials thinking that they're above the law has led to a serious deterioration in the attitudes of match officials. They are rude, arrogant and interested only in exerting their authority over every aspect of the game. This ridiculous application of FIFA's technical instruction directive (which is about the conveying of tactical instruction) to limit the number of people standing in the technical area to 1 - which is not how any other country in the FIFA world has interpreted it (because that's not what it means!!) - has just given them more scope to interfere in things that are absolutely nothing to do with them.

The way the referee last night was speaking to the Manor players when leaving the pitch was disgraceful. If somebody spoke to you like that in Tesco you wouldn't stand for it. And then people wonder why players lose their cool.

That's my Rant over as well now......

I dont really like moaning about officals, but in this instant, would have to agree that they are getting worse not only in regards to their decisions but their attitude and apparent 'need' to have an impact on the game.

Although I wasnt there last night, why a linesman felt the need to get involved is beyond me, we had something very simillar on Saturday..!!

A coming together in the penalty area resulted in 2 players hitting the deck, with the ball trapped somewhere between them, after a very mild claim for handball the ref (Who was 5 yards away) waved and said "No, Play on" only for the linesman who was 30 yards away and behind play to overide the Ref and award a penalty..!!

This is not an isolated incident, in almost every game I have played this year there has been a major incident involving the officals that have 'altered' the result of games. I apprecaite that no game is without incedent but they dont make it easy for themselves.

I think it's got worse since the 'Respect' campaign. It seems they feel they can do and say what they want without consequence.

A bit like workers attitudes in today's society especially those on Public Transport or working at reception in the NHS. Since they brought in that notice...'Our Staff have the right to work without fear...' blah blah blah, they talk to you like s**t!

Essex Senior Football League

League Cup Group E

Stansted 7 Clapton 1

Admission £5

Programme £1.50

Attendance 30

Got the expected massacre that I was expecting to see ever since I decided to choose this match out of a choice of about three.Clapton did take the lead, but by half time it was 1-1.The second half saw Stansted mostly dominating, with the visitors restricted to just a couple of shots on goal. Clapton could have had their keeper sent off when he fouled the last man and gave away a penalty. Instead he was shown a yellow card and was unable to stop the penalty being scored.Really cannot see Clapton finishing out of the bottom two of this league come the end of the season. Spent the match with Southend Phil. The new turnstiles purchased from the old Grays Athletic ground are awaiting installation.

Kind of what happened, but if you reading your version of events you'd believe all Southend Manor players were angels.

The Basildon forward goes in for a challenge with the keeper and maybe slightly catches him. Booking, probably yes as this is the second time it has happened. Now the keeper caught but clearly not injured (wonder how hard he was touched by the Basildon forward) picks up the ball and objecting to the challenge confronts the Basildon forward. Nothing wrong it that. Like you said just handbags.

You picture the Manor defender as somewhat of a peacemaker by "pushing the attacker away" Why did he not just pull his keeper away if he was so interested in keeping the peace, instead of pushing the Basildon forward with enough force to push him to the ground. This started the melee between the two teams. The Basildon forward was then sent off for his part in the incident and your keeper was walked i guess for the punch he threw and landed during the melee himself. Wether your keeper was the instigator or not he threw a punch and was then rightly sent off. Thank the defender as i'd imagine if he didn't rush in and push a player to the floor the keeper and forward would of just had words, like you see every other week and the forward would've been on a booking for his challenge. If he was that out of control i'm sure he would've got himself booked again in the remaining 55 mins and you could've had the one man advantage.

Not sticking up for the ref's at this level as they are generally poor, but as a player surely you can realise that they are that poor that if you manage them in the right way you'll get a few more of those 50/50 decisions in your favour.
