7 Dayers.

Seems a sore point on here,So if I was a Manager,I am not to have any contact with the Player before I put a request in,seems ridiculous to me,he may not want to play for me,but then I cannot tell him what I have to offer.I did not notice such a furore when Dorking lost nearly an entire team.or is this a local thing,Players nowadays hold all the aces, they follow their mates, nothing wrong in that, but when 5/6 clubs are in the same locality, there will be a lot of bad feeling.

7 day approach is the rule, but most of the time the manager will approach the player and then put the 7 day in. It has happened to me before, I mentioned in passing to someone that I was unhappy at the club I was at at the time, next day I get a phone call from a manager of another club asking if I was interested and if so, he would put a 7 day in.

It even happens in the professional divisions. "If I made a bid for you Mr Fabregas, would you be interested?" Only difference there is the blue forms that they have signed.

This works both ways this rule.

We have put a 7 day in for a player at another CCPL side and they refuse to give his numnber out.

Not sure the player evens knows ?

We have followed the rules correctly but cannot get in contact with the player.

I think to much fuss is made about so called "tapping up"

It happens all the time at all levels and always will.

I dont see any problem in asking a player if its worth putting in a 7 dayer.

At least you know were you stand.

The decent thing to do is contact the player’s manager, to ask if you can talk to the player, without a 7 dayer. This has happened to me, and because they have had the decency to call me first, I’ve given them the players contact details, the only thing I’ve insisted on is letting me speak to the player myself, before the other manager talks to him.

The other way is a 7 dayer and contact the league, for the players contact details, with the copy of the 7 dayer .

Its common sense at the end of the day, which Im afraid some people in this league, are without.

SORE SUBJECT FOR ME. ALL THAT'S REQUIRED IS WHAT DOBO SNR SAYS,IS SOME DECORUM, DECENCY AND RESPECT, IT'S NOT ALOT TO ASK.!

IF A MANAGER IS INTERESTED IN A PLAYER, HE SHOULD CALL THE PLAYERS MANAGER WHO CAN THEN DISCUSS THE MATTER INFORMING THE PLAYER THAT ANOTHER CLUB IS INTERESTED IN HIM. IF THE PLAYER IS ALSO INTERESTED, THE PLAYERS MANAGER ABIDES BY THE RULING AND ASK THE OTHER MANAGER TO PUT A 7 DAYER IN,, ONCE RECEIVED THE PLAYER CAN TALK TO THE MANAGER INTERESTED IN HIM. HOW DIFFICULT IS THAT ?

BUT NO, SOME CLUBS THINK THEY ARE BEYOND ANY RULING AND WHEN THEY ARE ACCUSED OF ILLEGALLY ''TAPPING -UP'' A PLAYER NOTHING IS DONE BECAUSE IT'S HARD TO PROVE AND THAT'S WHERE THE LOOP HOLE' IS.

AS I HAVE SAID IN A PREVIOUS POST, IF THERE ARE ANY KNOWN ILLEGAL APPROACHES, CLUBS SHOULD NAME AND SHAME THE CLUB AND THE PERSON THEN PERHAPS THIS WILL AT LEAST ''DETER'' THIS SORT OF THING FROM HAPPENING .......ALTHOUGH ONE WILL NEVER STOP IT !

WONDER IF THERE WILL BE REPETITIVE CULPRITS ? IF PROVEN THEN FINE AND ALSO DEDUCT POINTS WHICH HURTS MORE !

Nice guy, therein lies the problem, every one moans about things, but that is as far as it goes with Standard of Refs,7 Dayers,I am still waiting for an answer regards the Ludicrous Ryman decision regarding Groundsharing for 1 year only, will Warlingham,Epsom and Ewell,Badshot Lea.be homeless next year.I keep moaning about getting a fiver out of the Tight kents on here, but I will persevere, this site has improved vastly since people have joined up,it's full of information, banter, gossip, and made many friends through it,that I personally would never of met.ALL thoroughly nice people.

I refer to my post of 'Common Courtesy'. Dobbo snr is spot on and what he has put is what I believe most managers would agree to happen unfortunatelyy as Nice Guy says some managers/clubs feell that they are a law unto themselves.

I dont know how clubs/managers will ever get round the tapping up and poaching of players, at the end of the day its down to repsect and there seems to be very little of that around at the moment.

I don't fully understand this 7 dayer business. Does it mean that the club can speak to the player within 7 days of a request being put in or does it mean after 7 days have passed from putting a request in you can speak to the player. Also do the club HAVE to inform the player each time a 7 dayer is put in for them?

Out with me good old FA Rulebook.......................

During the season any Club wishing to approach a player known to be registered with or having played for any other Club must give to the secretary (note: not manager) of each such Club 7 days formal written notice of the intention to approach the player. In the "old" days this had to be by special / recorded delivery but these days faxes or emails are used provided a receipt or acknowledgment is obtained from either the secretary or chairman of the club.

The player can then be spoken to / transferred once the 7 days have elapsed (i.e on the 8th day) and no more than 21 days after the written notice is posted / acknowledged. There is no obligation on the Club to tell the player that a 7 day approach has been made.

The approaching Club may not approach the same player again in the same season and the Club may not approach another player at the same Club for 28 days.

If a player approaches a Club that Club then has to give notice as above to the Club that the player is known to be registered with or has played for.

There - easy isn't it - but not many Clubs follow the rules as discussed elsewhere

No obligation on Club to tell player,no wonder they go by back door route.

Exactly what I was thinking! That needs to be amended surely because if a big ryman club come in for a player or something like that the club can just ignore it and the player be none the wiser.

Shouldn't be a big problem if they really want the player YHW - they have 14 days to track him down - after the 7 days nothing can stop them approaching him after a game for example.

..........AND IT GOES ON IN THE HIGHER LEVELS AS WELL !

AS PER THE NON-LEAGUE DAILY A CONFERENCE PREMIER CLUB TAPPED-UP THE BILLERICAY 'KEEPER,

''THE KEEPER'' TOLD THE SURPRISED AND ANGRY BILLERICAY MANAGER THE DAY BEFORE THE GAME THAT A CONFERENCE CLUB CONTACTED HIM SO HE IS NOT PLAYING AND GOING TO THIS CONFERENCE CLUB TO BE SUB-KEEPER ........ NICE GUY (PARDON THE PUN) !!!

FORTUNATELY BILLERCAY WERE ABLE TO SIGN ANOTHER KEEPER JUST IN TIME FOR THE GAME.

THE CONFERENCE CLUB NAME NOT MENTIONED - AND WHAT A FEEBLE EXCUSE GIVEN BY THEM TO THE BILLERCAY MANAGER FOR THEIR ILLEGAL APPROACH. IF SOMEONE COULD PUT THE REPORT ON HERE (I'M USELESS AT THOSE THINGS) YOU WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN.

CHEERS

Also, as mentioned elsewhere, nothing to stop the club making the approach going to the league where the registration of the player is held to get the contact details, provided a copy of the approach is submitted along with the request.
