FA CUP Draw

MbrunoB

Recommended Posts

Make it a Friday match. We had a good turnout when Town held St Albans City to a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup back in 2005.

:applaus: GREAT CALL.......................Friday night 7.45 ko.

No clash with other football in area.

No clash with footy on the box.

No clash with 1893 run around.

No clash with local junior park football.

Come on Guys...........go for it.dance%20(2).gif dance%20(2).gif dance%20(2).gif dance%20(2).gif

Difficult for Worthing supporters, but, how many will they bring on a Sunday anyway ? There were only 133 at Ashford for the Saturday match. How many from Worthing ?

Hi all, Worthing fan here in peace. We had about 45 at Ashford which is fairly usual for us and are generally the biggest and noisiest travellers in Ryman 1S. I would expect about 60 to schlep up to yours, luckily some are nearer than others including 3 just 4 miles from your place as well as other exiles.

Here's hoping for a cracking game, good banter and good gate money for both teams. Any ideas re likely crowd number?

Not everyone can make a Sunday game and their support can be arranged around Saturday afternoons plus another part of OUR club has an agreement and has paid to use the ground on Sunday afternoons but that is easily overlooked and agreement goes out of the window.

I know where your coming from and I do sympathise, however, it's the way the cookie has crumbled for that particular weekend. Many Cup matches are played on a Sunday purely because groundsharing 'partners' have situations such as our one is throwing up. And as i've said above, it'll be interesting how this effects our gate.

I am of course looking at this in a selfish pair of blinkers.

As Littlehampton stated in a seperate thread let the countdown begin, I love the FA Cup at this level as every round is a triumph.

ET - sorry, but groundsharing partners? Who are our partners?

Hopefully, the confusion over date will be sorted very soon with an announcement on the official ETFC website.

Don't know the terms and conditions of our existing ground-share agreement at Brimsdown, but I tend to share Steph's view that an FA Cup match should take priority over an Essex Senior League fixture.

Down here on the south coast most people still think the match will be played on the Saturday.

Litlehampton-Thank fu-k someone else has confirmed it, I've known it since the draw was made.

Kentrebel-here here. We usually get a crowd of 220 for a bog standard Saturday home game but have had a 178 (midweek and England game live on TV), 305 and 262 for the home games to date. My personal guess would be that we'd get at least 300-350 with your 60 and the Sunday scenario, hopefully it'll be more and i'd be disappointed if it is less.

And I don't think there will be any shortness of banter, WE LOVE BANTER

Yes, but the two clubs had to agree the date before it could be announced

Gutted it's a Sunday to be honest as Saturday is far more productive to a good lash up! Who gives a t*ss about a tinpot County League side eh?!

Either way, looking forward to it, been hoping to draw you lot since I moved up here as I'm mates with one of your lot and only live on the other side of the reservoir in Chingford!

Having seen you a few years back at Redbridge, there should be a good atmosphere, you'll definately hear us before you see us!!

Reckon on a gate of 400, 70-90 being Rebels and scoffing all your much famed bread pudding!!

So ourselves AND Worthing have to agree to shift the game. The team that paid and booked to play on Sunday at the ground are kicked off without a second thought..All because heaven forbid we inform our sub letters that under FA rules our game takes priority over theirs.!!

I live a long way away, and have to arrange to go to games well in advance.First we should have been playing Maldon on the 25th ,so i arranged to go and bring people with me.Then it was Home to Worthing on the same date,so rearranged things and other peoples shedules in order to make it to that game. Now to be told its on the sunday instead.!!!!

*pulls up deckchair, awaits usual suspects*

Behave yourself, Nick, and get on with watching Kevin Blackwell! Nice (?) work if you can get it...

You know I used to rent out deckchairs on the beach....so that'll be a quid please mate!!

No Blackwell today, thankfully!!

Lovely Stuff - our board would agree to anything that suits THEM, not WFC so if they fancied a 10AM kick off, it wouldn't surprise us!!

Hi RebelNick, I was very interested and amused to read your postings, as I am Enfield born and breed, support ETFC and have followed Enfield all my life.

I have done the complete opposite to you, in that I now live on the south coast, have been to the Worthing ground on the odd occasion, and have a couple of friends who are loyal Worthing supporters. Like you, I have been hoping for this draw for quite a long time. Know you and your supporters will be made very welcome at Goldsdown Road. No predictions on the result, but do think home advantage will have a big influence and swing the outcome In Town's favour. Agree?

Just an observation , we have to accept that the FA ruling with the groundshare works both ways. last season Brimmo had to play the last 32 of the FA Vase on a Sunday coz we were at home on the Sat in the league. Hendon had to play on Sunday last weekend v Cheshunt in the FA Cup coz Wembley were at home in the Combined Counties League. It happens all over the country. I think we will get a bigger gate than we would have had on the Sat and im sure there will be some as posted already who cant make the Sunday. Main thing is to get behind the lads and cheer us on to a win.

No! ;)

What brings you to Littlehampton? I'm sure you've been to Worthing so you'll understand why I got out as soon as I could! Which Rebels do you know? I'm usually found behind the goal with large hair and an even larger voice!

I'd be happy with a replay to be honest and we seem to be growing into a better side every match we play. We've a settled back four now which has helped and we've gone from letting in 6 in 2 to 2 in 2! The next 2 league games will go a fair way to indicating who'll be favourites i think.

Looking at your vids, I think it'll be a close match. Admittedly at the start of the season I had you down for play offs and us top ten, although it's the cup and all. I'm hoping our support can nullify any home advantage you'll have as well!

I'm sure we'll be running a coach as well, should you fancy, if you win, I'm sure they'll even let you on the return trip!!
